Before the complicated development of drug-related crimes, provincial People’s Committee has instructed sectors, mass organizations and people from all strata to actively get involved in the fight against drugs.
Along with cracking
down on drug-related crimes, Binh Duong has attached special attachment to
anti-drug propaganda and education.

Provincial People’ Committee has instructed the local authorities at all levels to actively join hands in implementing communication campaigns against drugs. This has helped the local people know more about the harmful effects of drugs, thereby taking initiative in denouncing drug-related crimes and mobilizing the local drug addicts to concentrated detoxification centers.
As a locality with economic growth, Binh Duong has absorbed a large number of immigrant laborers. This has also made the situation of the local social evils, including drug abuse, get more complicated. Hence, anti-drug propaganda task among laborers it is very important.
Nguyen Thien Phuoc, Chairman of provincial Labor Union said that in the first half of 2014, provincial Labor Union has sped up propaganda activities against drugs; organized a conference on social evils prevention and control for more than 100 trade union officials. So far, trade unions at all levels have held 86 propaganda shows against drugs for nearly 20,000 laborers. They have also delivered leaflets and posters on drug prevention while realizing many other propaganda activities among laborers, helping raise their awareness of drugs and other social evils.
The local health sector has also strengthened anti-drug propaganda activities. Particularly, the sector has so far provided 9,000 leaflets, 720 communication magazines against HIV/AIDS; organized propaganda shows for more than 7,000 people; provided 1,502 clean injection needles and collected 3,000 dirty ones. Propaganda activities against HIV/AIDS have also been maintained on loudspeaker system in communes and wards. Such these apart, the sector has given consultancy and kept control of HIV/AIDS carriers in the community.
Currently, the situation of drug-related crimes still gets complicated. But with the high determination of the local authorities at all levels plus the integral efforts by people, it is believed that drug abuse and drug-related crimes will be prevented and repulsed in the very near future. Besides, with the theme of this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking: “Message of hope: Drug use disorders are preventable and treatable”, it is hoped that the society will get more sympathic for addict people and help them overcome their complex to reintegrate into the community.
