In the historic days of April, we got back to historic remain of Kien An forest at Bau Khai hamlet, An Lap commune, Dau Tieng district to be proud of a land of heroes that has dramatically changed from bomb craters and mine fields.
From the center of Dau Tieng town about 25 km, the historical forest of Kien An spreads over an area of 245 hectares. The place was chosen as the revolutionary base during the anti-French time. With a favorable terrain as an old forest located between the Saigon and Thi Tinh rivers, Kien An forest became a strategic and important position in terms of military at the northwest gateway of Saigon. Along with the resistance bases in Ben Cat, the place has become the base of the revolution in the struggle for national liberation and the cradle of the North Ben Cat base. The revolutionary base of Kien An forest was recognized by the provincial People's Committee as a provincial-level Revolutionary Historical Site on June 2, 2004.
Kien An forest is considered as a place to educate younger generations of revolutionary causes
This is a very valuable relic, rich in meaning in educating revolutionary traditions for younger generations. Important items have been built to recreate the scenes of officials and soldiers working and fighting locally. Coming to Kien An forest and walking amidst the lush green, you will witness secret underground bunkers used as meeting places, Hoang Cam kitchen in the style of "going without a trace, cooking without smoke, and talking without a sound." Then, under the koh-nia, the boi loi, lim xet... trees, you would be silent, reminiscing about a heroic time in the country's war while listening to the narrator's stories.
