
Poor workers’ children enjoy scholarships.
For poor and immigrant laborers’ children, going to school is a difficult thing. Facing this status, Binh Duong administration and companies’ grassroot trade unions set out policies and allowances to take care and increase intellectual for laborers’ children, contributing to improve quality of human resources and talents for the province in particular and the country in general.
Efforts to get scholarships
It is determination of all children of needy workers after getting scholarships of K.L VINA Co.Ltd. in Thuan An town. The scholarship granting program for poor laborers’ children has been established by the company since 2012. Every year, the company trade union spends about VND100mn to grant scholarships to needy kids. Tran Thi Lanh, worker of the company said that her son is in the 7th grade. In the past, she worried about tuition, expenses for learning aids, uniform in every new school year season. However, now her son annually receives scholarships of the company, so she no longer worries about expenses for new school year.
Esquel Garment Manufacturing Vietnam Co.Ltd’s support program for workers’ kids has been set up for more than 10 years. Every year, the company often informs the company laborers about scholarship granting to their children. In addition, on Tet holiday, International Children Day, the company holds festive days for laborers’ children.
Phan Khac Thanh, chairman of the company trade union said that aside from taking care of laborers’ life, the company focuses on their children. This is also the good way to keep workforce.
Apart from granting scholarships and holding playgrounds for laborers’ children, companies’ grassroot trade unions take children to workplace of their parents to help them know about their parents’ hard jobs.
Efforts to taking care of young generations
Dang Thi Kim Chi, chairwoman of VSIP trade union said that this industrial park has many enterprises implementing care for laborers’ children. The good deed is to make up joy for laborers. Many laborers’ children make efforts to get scholarships in many consecutive years.
Aside from initiative of enterprises, grassroot trade unions, the provincial People’s Committee built schools to cater for laborers’ children. Over the past years, rate of population increases rapidly, making up a big pressure on material facilities of learning. Therefore, demand on education skyrockets sharply.
According to Tran Thanh Liem, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, the local administration annually earmarks about 30% of basic construction investment capital under the local budget for education.
In addition, the locality spends land fund and capital to develop schooling network as well as mobilizes sources to develop pre-schools and primary schools. Besides, the local authority sets out policy of tuition exemption and reduction for needy pupils.
With great attention of local administration, enterprises, grassroot trade unions, poor workers’ children are raised more impetus on learning.
