As many as 47,000 personnel from the Indonesian police, military and administration are mobilised to secure important landmarks across Jakarta on June 27 when the Constitutional Court (MK) is scheduled to announce its ruling on the presidential election dispute case.

National police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo said that in a bid to anticipate any public disturbances, 17,000 soldiers, 28,000 policemen and 20,000 officers from the capital city’s administration would be deployed.

Some 13,000 will be assigned in the MK building complex, the remaining 15,000 will be posted at the State Palace, General Elections Commission building, Elections Supervisory Agency building, and number of embassies, he said.

The official stressed that with such security measures, local people should not be concerned and can conduct their daily activities on the day the decision is made.

The Indonesian election was held on April 17 to select the president, vice presidents, and more than 20,000 local and national lawmakers. The presidential race pit incumbent President Joko Widodo and retired general Prabowo Subianto.

The General Election Commission (KPU) of Indonesia said on May 21 that Joko Widodo won the election. Meanwhile, his rival Prabowo Subianto rejected the results, and filed a complaint on the voting results at the Constitutional Court.
