In recent years, besides paying attention to subjects within curriculum and health care for students, creative experience activities for students also concerned Binh Hoa Primary School. Principal Le Thi Ngoc Bich said, in the school year 2018-2019, the school organized and applied many creative experience models and activities, bringing good results. The school has applied a number of topics and initiatives proposed by teachers into their teaching process. In addition, the school also organized self-service activities, cultivated life skills, communication skills, ethical lifestyle, and social understanding for students. During the implementation, the school cooperated closely with Youth Union organizations to educate students in a practical and effective manner.
To improve the effectiveness of teaching, teachers organized teaching and evaluating activities for students' learning results according to standards of knowledge and skills, at the same time innovating teaching methods. Teachers were encouraged to organize educational activities to improve life skills for students. These activities in teaching and learning have contributed positively in promoting creativity, initiative in learning, and forming life skills for students. As a result, 100% students completed the primary program in the last 3 school years. This showed the continuous efforts of teachers and students of Binh Hoa Primary School in teaching and learning. Ms. Bich said that in the 2016-2017 school year alone, the school had 12 students winning provincial competitions and 2 students winning national prizes; in the school year 2017-2018, the school had 18 students winning provincial prizes and 2 students winning national prizes; in the school year 2018-2019, 14 students won provincial prizes.
Innovation from teaching to student evaluation
Although Tran Dai Nghia Secondary School (An Thanh Ward) is new, the school has affirmed its educational quality. One of success factors is that the school attaches great importance to innovation and creativity in teaching and learning.
Principal Tran Thuy Hung Thao said that the school applies innovations not only in teaching and learning but also in exams, tests, and student assessment. The school renews the form of learning through diversifying the activities of creative experiences and scientific research of students; employs teaching methods based on information technology application such as: Teaching with electronic lesson plans, teaching on integrated topics, attaching importance to guiding students to self-study at home and outside school. The school also actively encourages students to participate in science-technology research contests organized by higher levels; increases forms of learning associated with practice through contests of interdisciplinary knowledge to solve problems; enhances teaching activities in the form of experiments, practice, discussion ... suitable to the specific characteristics of each subject; thereby, increasing exchanges, cooperation, connection, cultivating interest in learning, and training students for many life skills, improving knowledge in all aspects, traditional values of the nation and world culture’s quintessence; guide them to comprehensive human development in knowledge, quality, and life skills.
In assessment process, in order to determine the right competency of students, in addition to classroom tests, the school encourages teachers to increase the form of evaluation through project products, presentations, practices. For those students whose test results are not commensurate with the learning process, teachers find out the cause, allow students to retest if necessary and reasonable. Those innovative and creative ways have contributed positively to improving the quality of education of the school. As a result, in the school year 2018-2019, the whole school had 383/437 excellent students and 54/437 good students; the percentage of students graduating secondary school reached 100%.
