Join hands to sow the seeds of happiness

From the beginning of this year, Bac Tan Uyen district has organized many activities to visit and support cases having particularly difficult circumstances in the area. This practical support has planted the seeds for the dreams and aspirations of disadvantaged people who are determined to overcome difficulties and improve their lives.

 Nurture aspirations

The Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district has coordinated with Party Committee, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Lap commune to organize a groundbreaking ceremony to build a solidarity house for Trinh Thi Huan's family in Hamlet 3. Huan is a poor household, her family lives in a house that was seriously degraded. Understanding this family's difficult situation, the Fatherland Front of the district decided to support the family to build a new house. Having a new house is a dream for poor families like Huan. The house seems to add warmth, joy, and motivation for Huan and family to nurture a desire to settle down and have a peaceful career. Huan, who went through difficult times, believes that the value of the house is not only measured in money but also in the sharing and caring hearts of people for her during difficult times.

To have more houses of great solidarity, every year, the Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district actively launches and calls for agencies, departments, unions, businesses, and philanthropists to support the Fund for the poor. With many resources mobilized from the community, each year, the district builds and repairs dozens of houses for poor and disadvantaged households, contributing to the effective implementation of sustainable poverty reduction.

Vo Thi Tuyet Nhung, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district, said: “To contribute to the successful implementation of the National Target Program for sustainable poverty reduction and social security programs in the area, we sent a letter calling on organizations and individuals inside and outside the district to support the Fund For the Poor. In addition, we coordinate with the Fatherland Front Committees of communes and towns to review the current housing status of households on the list requesting house construction support to carry out fund spending in accordance with regulations. Houses that are repaired and built from the love, sharing, and joint contributions of the community will be a great source of encouragement to help poor households become self-reliant and build a prosperous and happy life."

Care for the vulnerable

According to statistics, there are currently 334 poor households and 81 near-poor households in Bac Tan Uyen district. Along with cultivating the aspirations of the poor, Bac Tan Uyen district proactively organizes many activities to care for vulnerable groups. Namely, the district Red Cross recently coordinated with the district's Fatherland Front to hold a "Zero-Dong Market". At the market, the Organizing Committee gave 200 gifts of necessities to poor people, each worth 1 million VND. In particular, at the program, the Organizing Committee also awarded 50 scholarships to students having difficult circumstances in the district. The gifts are a spiritual encouragement to help the poor and vulnerable people feel more warm-hearted.

The family's situation is dire, being old and raising young grandchildren, Truong Thi Nhieu in Tan Thanh town has to struggle to make a living every day. For Truong Thi Nhieu, the "Zero-Dong Market" is one of the destinations in her journey of making a living to have necessities to cover their lives. The necessities she received helped reduce some of her expenses and save money to buy milk for her grandchildren. Her face was radiant and happy when receiving the necessities, Muoi said emotionally: “Every month I come to this market to receive food, sometimes I can save for a whole month. I save money to pay for daily food and water thanks to this. Receiving the gift from the Red Cross Society makes me very happy, as if I have more strength to overcome this difficult time."

The "Zero Dong Market" in the district has contributed to spreading love and warmth and has practical meaning, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, mutual love and support in the community. Not only did the unions holding the "zero dong market", but communes and towns in the district also simultaneously organized it, affirming the vitality of an activity of gratitude and profound humane meaning. All share love together to see that life still has many good and happy things.

Tran Van Phuong, Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Bac Tan Uyen district, said: "Over many years of implementation, the "zero dong market" has spread and brought practical results, becoming a familiar destination for many poor people. Although the items from the "0 dong market" are limited, they partly help ease the hardships of life and encourage people having difficult circumstances to rise up. "Zero Dong Market" is not only a reliable address for people to exchange free items, but also arouses and connects people's kindness, spreading love and the sharing spirit among the community".
