Bach Thi Tam, Chairwoman of the town’s Women’s Union said that the contest aimed to improve propaganda work of Women’s Union and Fatherland Front officials, raising people’s awareness and action in protecting the environment, managing and using natural resources in association with environmental protection.
Getting sustainable development together
According to Mrs.Tam, environmental protection is one of activities regularly done by provincial Women’s Union. Hence, provincial Women’s Union and its branches have organized many practical activities to absorb members’ involvement.
Along with organizing competitions on environmental protection, responding to activities on the World Environment Day, the Clean up the World Campaign to change awareness and action of people, especially women, the town’s Women’s Unions at all levels have strengthened in-depth development for environmental protection activities. Particularly, they have launched the campaign of “building families with 5 No-s and 3 Clean-s in association with the movements of “All people consolidate to build cultural lifestyle”, “The whole country shares efforts in building new-style rural areas”…The campaign has received enthusiastic response from members and women by such practical deeds as dropping liter in right places, planning green trees…
They have also made dissemination of information about environmental protection at groups, teams’ meetings, helping people know more about the role and responsibility of protecting the environment and community’s health…Over the past five years, they organized 420 propaganda shows, absorbing 17,000 officials and members.
It is known that the town is crowded with laborers, so the town’s Women’s Union has recently strengthened dissemination of information about environmental protection among workers at lodging facilities. Accordingly, sub-unions for women at lodging facilities have coordinated with proprietors to propagandize the harmful effects of environmental pollution in general and plastic bags in particular.
Also according to Mrs.Tam, the town’s Women’s Union is mobilizing all solutions so that each official, member is a propagandist “For a city without waste” towards a green, clean and nice Ben Cat…
