Raising public awareness of child protection and care

The 2014 provincial competition for good child protection and care collaborators lured more than 130 collaborators and cadres who are in charge of child protection and care across the province. At the competition, each candidate answered 40 multiple-choice questions with the contents relating to the Law on Child Protection and Care, situations when children are abused …The competition also took place with a challenge test part among participating teams.

At the competition, candidates managed to deal with many good situations pertaining to child protection and care from the organizers. This was also the goal of the competition.

To Nguyen Thanh Truc, Head of the Child Protection and Care Division under provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the society is on the momentum of the development and the dark side of market economy is the increase of social evils. Accordingly, children are among groups easily hit by social evils. Provincial DoLISA over time also organized a lot of seminars and contests to raise skills of collaborators and cadres who are in charge of child protection and care.

Joining hands for children’s future

Along with competitions and seminars on child protection and care, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs have got involved in many significant activities, including visiting and presenting gifts to children with difficult circumstances on Tet and great holidays; supported children suffering from HIV/AIDS, heart disease…

Many good ways in child protection and care have been discovered in some localities. Bau Bang is a typical example for this. Nguyen Van Sang, Head of Bau Bang district’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that the district has teamed up with provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to organize a training course on how to prevent accidents in children for those who are in charge of child protection and care.

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the district also awarded scholarships funded by the Vietnam Child Support Fund to 17 poor-but-excellent pupils; mobilized 2 donors to award 5 scholarships worth VND1mln each to other poor-but-excellent pupils…

The whole North Tan Uyen district now has a total of 481 children with extremely difficult circumstances. In August 2014, the district’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs presented gifts and scholarships to 113 poor pupils. The division has also regularly organized talk shows and seminars on policies for children; set up many child care clubs in hamlets…

According to Ngo Thi Hong, Head of North Tan Uyen district’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, the whole society needs to join hands in child protection and care. All the district’s sectors and mass organizations have mapped out practical activities in child protection and care.

Child protection and care are the good tradition of Vietnamese people. To Truong Thi Anh Dao, Deputy Director of provincial DoLISA, collaborators and cadres who are in charge of child protection and care need to make a strong change in awareness and action of people from all strata to the cause of the local child protection and care; excel at supplying child protection and care services, ensuring that all children are lived in a safe and healthy society…
