With the spirit of “the good leaves protect the torn ones”, Phu Giao district has always prioritized the implementation of social welfare policies, especially programs supporting housing for poor, near-poor households and families facing difficult circumstances.
Under provincial Steering Committee’s plan to eliminate substandard houses, Phu Giao district has implemented the initiative synchronously throughout the district. In particular, the district’s Fatherland Front Committee issued a call to action in response to the emulation movement of “Joining hands to eliminate substandard houses” while the Steering Committees of communes and towns developed local action plans and ensured timely construction and repair.

Through review efforts, the district’s Steering Committee has supported the construction and renovation of houses with total funding of over VND 2 billion. Notably, the district’s Steering Committee has recently held a groundbreaking ceremony to build a house for Vo Kim Phu, a beneficiary family residing in quarter 9, Phuoc Vinh town. At the ceremony, the Steering Committee presented a symbolic funding board to support the construction of an 80m² house, with a total value of VND 100 million, sourced from the district’s “For the Poor” Fund. In addition, district and town leaders also presented gifts and offered encouragement to help the family stabilize their lives.
The construction of Mrs. Phu’s house marks a significant step towards completing all 21 planned houses, achieving 100% of the district's target to eliminate substandard houses. This support aims at providing poor and near-poor households as well as disadvantaged families, with sturdy, spacious homes that ensure long-term stability, enabling them to focus on work and improve their economic conditions.
According to Van Quang Chinh, Vice Chairman of Phu Giao district’s People's Committee, the housing support program is a deeply humanitarian effort that contributes to stabilizing residents’ lives and realizing the goal of “leaving no one behind” in development. The newly built and repaired houses are the result of contributions from all-level authorities, sectors, donors and the families. These warm homes bear love, sharing and serve as a strong source of encouragement for people to feel secure and move forward in life.
During the construction and repair process, the district’s People’s Committee has directed departments, mass organizations and local authorities to actively coordinate and support families in both construction conditions and financial resources, ensuring timely completion. At the same time, they called on all officials, Party members, agencies, units, businesses and the public to continue supporting the program with the spirit: “Those with resources contribute resources; those with strength contribute strength”, working together to bring safe, stable homes to every family.
The emulation movement of “Joining hands to eliminate substandard houses” has received enthusiastic support from Party Committees, authorities and Fatherland Front Committees at all levels of Phu Giao district. They have made great efforts in mobilization, donations and sharing. Along with the district’s Steering Committee, Fatherland Front Committee has built and handed over 11 “Great solidarity” houses worth VND 1.3 billion; the district’s Red Cross Society has built and presented 7 “Red cross” houses with a total value of over VND 700 million. These efforts have helped the poor and vulnerable in society, reflecting the spirit of national solidarity, compassion and mutual support, thereby contributing to the successful implementation of poverty reduction policies, social security and building a more civilized and developed Phu Giao district. |
