Joining hands to reduce child harm

Early June 1, provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to launch the 2023 provincial Action Month for Children and 7th provincial Children's Festival at Dau Tieng primary school in Dau Tieng district. The event was attended by Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, agencies and localities together with 1,200 disadvantaged children in the province.

Joyful and meaningful program

At the ceremony, 1,200 disadvantaged children had the opportunity to enjoy many funny and exciting musical and magic performance items. In the eyes of the children, this was the happiest festival because they not only had fun, but also received meaningful gifts.

Children with difficult circumstances receive gifts at the ceremony

Nguyen Thi Minh Vy, a student of grade 5.5 at Dau Tieng primary school said that this was the first time she had participated in such a crowded and joyful program, so she was very excited. There were many friends from districts, towns and cities in the province to attend and receive gifts. For Vy, the most meaningful gift today was the lessons of child abuse prevention and control skills shared by Psychology Master Le Minh Huan, a member of provincial Children's Counseling Club.

For orphans like Le Van Thanh, a student at Long Binh primary school in Bau Bang district, having fun and enjoying delicious cakes was a luxury dream. He loves his mother because she has to raise two children alone. Therefore, Thanh does not dare ask for anything from his mother, but always tries to study well to please her. Thanh said that he will try his best to study well in order to become a useful person for the society, being able to help many children with difficult circumstances like his brothers

As for Nguyen Phuong Trang, a student of class 7A6 at Tan Hiep secondary school in Tan Uyen city, the most interesting part was the yellow bell ringing competition to answer questions in the quiz contest with the theme of "Learning about the Law on Children, prevention of accidents, injuries and abuse in children”; "Improving the capacity to exercise children's rights" in 2023. According to Trang, the contest gave her a lot of useful knowledge to protect herself and have the opportunity to learn more from friends.

Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs said that at this year's ceremony, the Organizing Board and donors gave 1,250 gifts from provincial Children's Fund and 40 gifts from Dau Tieng district’s People's Committee for children with difficult circumstances. Each gift included VND1.65 million in cash, 1 gift worth VND 300,000 together with a free medical examination card worth more than VND1.05 million. The total value of the gifts was more than VND 2 billion.

After the launching ceremony, Dau Tieng district’s People's Committee organized a campaign on communication, education and social mobilization to raise awareness, knowledge and skills on child protection; child labor reduction through the form of organizing parades around streets of communes and towns in the district.

Joining hands to take care of children

 

The ceremony launching provincial Action Month for Children and Children's Festival are activities held annually to promote the movement of all people caring, educating and protecting children; propagandize and mobilize agencies, organizations, educational institutions, families and individuals to implement policies, programs, plans and mobilize resources for child protection and care,  thereby creating favorable conditions for children with difficult circumstances, disabilities, orphans, and visually impaired children to celebrate the annual festival for children.

Over the past time, all-level Party committees, authorities, departments and mass organizations of the province focused on implementing practical activities, bringing the best effect in child protection and care, especially programs and plans on prevention and control of child accidents, injuries, violence, and abuse. The activities have contributed to nurturing children's childhood, helping them have a pure, innocent, joyful, safe and happy life today so that they can become owners of the country’s future full of bravery and self-confidence.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr.Ha emphasized that the 2023 Action Month for Children was launched with the theme of "Joining hands to reduce child harm" towards raising awareness and responsibility of all-level committees, Party, authorities, departments, mass organizations, families, schools, communities and the whole society towards building a safe, healthy and friendly environment for children; preventing child abuse and violence; respecting, listening to and promoting children's participation right.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr. Ha thanked the attention of all-level authorities, sectors and the valuable support of enterprises, socio-economic organizations to join hands to care and protect children, especially those with difficult circumstances in the province. He also called on all-level authorities, sectors, mass organizations, socio-political economic organizations to contribute their strength by practical and effective actions, contributing to bringing joy, happiness and comprehensive development to children. He hopes that this year's Action Month for Children will contribute to creating a safe and healthy environment for the local children to develop comprehensively.
