In the face of rapid development, liquid and solid wastes from industrial parks and clusters have more and more harsher impacts on environment. As statistic data shows, the whole province bears totally 129,000 cubic meters of waste water everyday, of which, the water waste from industrial parks is accounted for 49,000 cubic meters and industrial clusters 80,000 cubic meters.

Employees work better in non-polluted environment An unnamed officer-in-charge asserted that 20 out 24 operating industrial parks have universal waste water treatment system while 3 are being constructed with the same leaving only one without any treatment system. And as a survey shows, 38% of enterprises release waste water off the standards. Thus, at waste water receiving sites of some industrial parks, the environment is heavily polluted while the solution is limited due to system lacking. According to the survey result, only 1 out of 10 industrial clusters fulfilled the construction of treatment system, downgrading the efficency to 20% of waste treated. As for solid waste, it was updated that 169 tons out of 883 tons of solid waste were hazardous waste whereas the collection of enterprises mingled with daily use wastes. So as to control pollution, Binh Duong Province has launched program of industrial pollution management in 2006 to 2010 and regulation of allocation with prioritization of non-hazardous industries, meaning the exclusion of dying, tanning, plating, etc. Thus, the consideration and evaluation of investment project meeting the demands of planning and observation of environment conditions have been stressed upon; however, the infrastruction has not been constructed in a harmonious manner.Considered as a vital measure, once every two year, Binh Duong Provincial Authority proceeds with ranking and announcing Green Book to appraise and award enterprises meeting requirements of environment protection.Reported by Mai Huy – Translated by Vi Bao
