Joint hands needed for a city without rubbish

Thu Dau Mot city has just held a launching ceremony for the implementation of the model city without garbage. In addition to the determination of the leaders of the Party, the authority, and mass organizations, it is necessary to have the people's awareness so that a city without garbage is no longer a slogan but a reality.

The city has set a target that 100% of main roads, alleys, and residential areas are issued regulations on the time and place of disposal, collection and transportation of domestic solid waste. The units must collect and transport waste in accordance with the promulgated regulations, ensuring that the main roads are clean and there is no situation of disposing of waste at the prescribed time and place.

Besides, the determination has been established to not have spontaneous garbage collection points, residential areas and social housing in the area to be cleaned and no backlog of waste, or 100% of households in the city with the classification of domestic solid waste at source, the assurance that the alleys, gardens, parks and canals in the area to clean and without illegal dumping of waste with well implementation of the movement against plastic waste or saying no to single-use plastic products.

Previously, to implement the model effectively, mass organizations took the lead in mobilizing people to participate. Specifically, the Association of Veterans, the Association of the Elderly, the Women's Union of Thu Dau Mot city and others also had the launch of volunteer teams for a city without garbage.

Dang Thi Thu Ha – Deputy President of Thu Dau Mot Women's Union, said that the association organized the launch of a volunteer team and piloted cleaning at Bach Dang pedestrian street of Phu Cuong ward. At each event, the team is associated with a campaign to collect and clean up waste along both sides of Bach Dang pedestrian street, contributing to preserving the urban landscape. “The activities of Thu Dau Mot City Women's Union aim to raise the awareness of building a cultural and civilized urban lifestyle in every member, woman and people from the smallest actions while creating vibrant and widespread movements of people from all walks of life on the awareness of environmental protection, building a civilized city, the image of an exemplary citizen, and the image of a woman in Thu Dau Mot land of beauty, benevolence, and affection," said Dang Thi Thu Ha.

The Elderly Association of Chanh Nghia ward of Thu Dau Mot city has also launched a propaganda group of more than 30 members for a city without garbage. Ninh Thi Thu Huong - Chairwoman of the Elderly Association of Chanh Nghia ward, said the propaganda team was established to create a strong change in awareness and responsibility of officials, members and people in practice, showing cultural lifestyle and urban civilization to promote the role of the elderly in propagating, mobilizing and actively participating in responding to the construction of an urban cultural and civilized lifestyle in Chanh Nghia ward. The members follow the monthly regulations to organize two times to clean up the gardens, roads and 12 alleys by the Association of the Elderly of the ward.
