Joy from new homes

In response to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide," launched by the Prime Minister, Thuan An City has implemented a variety of synchronized solutions and diversified resources. These efforts have led to significant results, bringing joy to many families.

Share the happiness together

Recently, there has been reassuring news in Thuan An City regarding families benefiting from preferential policies, as well as those who are poor or near-poor and facing housing difficulties. In Lai Thieu Ward, the Fatherland Front Committee recently organized the handover of solidarity houses to two poor households: Ms. Nguyen Loan Chi and Ms. Nguyen Thi Be. Both houses were renovated to meet level-four housing standards, featuring tiled floors, corrugated iron roofs, and solid walls, all at a total cost of 100 million VND supported by the ward's "For the Poor" Fund.

The recipients were overjoyed upon receiving their newly renovated homes. Having lived in old, dilapidated houses for a long time, the change was significant. Ms. Nguyen Loan Chi expressed her happiness, saying, “I'm so happy! Looking at the neatly renovated house, I have no words to describe my gratitude. I thank the local government and philanthropists for their support.”

An Thanh Ward starts building Red Cross houses for people with difficult housing circumstances.

“A piece of food when hungry is worth a whole package when full.” For many people, 50 million VND to repair a house may not seem like much, but for poor households, it is extremely valuable. Ms. Nguyen Hong Chien, Chairwoman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Thieu Ward, mentioned that this initiative is part of the nationwide movement to "Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" and is also aimed at celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. Assisting with housing helps poor households settle down, improve their family economy, and contribute to local development.

In a similar effort, An Thanh Ward has recently begun constructing houses for poor households and families with policy status in the Thanh Hoa B and Thanh Loc quarters. Two families are being supported in building new homes: Mrs. Dao Thi To's family, which has made revolutionary contributions, and Mr. Vu Van Bo's family, who are in need. The total support for this initiative amounts to 220 million VND; this includes 120 million VND from the city's Gratitude Fund and 100 million VND from the city's Red Cross Society and Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in An Thanh Ward.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Lan, President of the Red Cross Society of Thuan An City, expresses hope that the program will help families secure decent homes and stable lives.

Work together for a common goal

Thuan An City, along with the entire country and province, is actively mobilizing resources to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for policy families, poor households, and near-poor households in the area. Many initiatives and programs aimed at removing these structures have been widely implemented, engaging the entire political system, as well as participation from residents and businesses.

Many initiatives and programs aimed at removing these structures have been widely implemented, engaging the entire political system, as well as participation from residents and businesses...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Vice Chairwoman of Thuan An City People's Committee, said that based on the province's plan, on March 14, 2025, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thuan An City issued Official Dispatch No. 57/MTTQ-BTT to city agencies, organizations, units, schools, and businesses in the city regarding the support for Fund for the Poor and funding for the program "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in 2025.

As of April 8, the City Fund for the Poor has mobilized more than 1.7 billion VND; of which support for eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is over 530 million VND. In phase 1 (before June 30), the city has 8 households needing support to build and repair houses; of which 3 are new houses and 5 are repaired. Up to now, the city has started repairing 3 houses and building 3 new houses, with a total cost of 350 million VND. For poor households, near-poor households, and other households with special difficulties that are eligible for support in phase 1, there are 56 households; of which 18 are newly built and 38 are repaired.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien said that currently, Thuan An City still has policy households and meritorious people living in rented houses (8 households); poor households, near-poor households, and households in especially difficult circumstances who are not eligible for support (93 households); of which 4 households have shared land certificates, and 89 households have no land or house. In these cases, the city will develop plans and solutions to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in phase 2.

The initiative to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is a significant effort that reflects the concern of the Party, State, and community for those facing difficult circumstances. This program contributes to the goal of poverty reduction and ensures social security in Thuan An City.
