Efforts from many sides
A project of “Improving assistance on integrated education for disabled children” has been widely launched by the Ministry of Education and Training since 2006. The project has aimed at helping and supporting integrated education for disabled children, facilitating the unlucky kids’ community integration and career orientation as well as creating manpower in service for the work of integrated education for disabled children. Binh Duong is one of localities excelling the project.
According to Tran Hieu, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training, over the past years, the project of “Improving assistance on integrated education for disabled children” has received care from all level agencies and mass associations and the entire sector of education and training.
The educational model has improved the entire society’s role and responsibility, especially change of responsibility of families with disabled children, awareness of disabled children.
The whole province now has more than 2,300 disabled children. Binh Duong has created favorable conditions for the unlucky kids to help them integrate into the community. Thanks to early interference, many disabled children have won remarkable changes of awareness, communication skill and so on, helping them integrate at pre-schools and primary schools. The number of disabled children going to schools has increased sharply.
Trinh Thi Dao, vice director of Thuan An town Center for Disabled children said “Over the past time, many disabled children at the center have been admitted into local schools. To integrate with classmates, they, their parents and teachers have made greater efforts”.
Overcoming difficulties
At present, the provincial Society for Visually-impaired people and Thuan An town Center for Disabled Children are home to many disabled students integrating into the community at local schools such as Phu Hoa primary school, Phu Hoa secondary school, Lai Thieu primary school, Tuy An primary school, Binh Thuan primary school, Hoa Cuc 4 pre-school, Hoa Cuc 5 pre-school and so on.
Dang Thi Thu Phuong, teacher of the provincial Society for Visually-impaired People said “The disabled students with constant efforts will surely overcome difficulties”.
Tran Hieu, vice director of the provincial department of Education and Training affirmed “To spur integrated education for disabled children, aside from grasping the Party and State’s instructions and policies as well as knowledge, teachers must specify their responsibility and career love”.
