In the morning of August 23, the Binh Duong provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front in coordination with the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in the province held a dispatching ceremony of monks and Buddhists of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association volunteering to participate in the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control. Attending the event was Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member, Head of the provincial Committee for Mass Mobilization and Chairman of the provincial Committee of Vietnamese Fatherland Front, representatives of departments, the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association of the province and leaders of Thu Dau Mot city and 50 volunteers participated in this time to support the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Responding to the call, the Vietnam Buddhist Administration Committee of the province launched and called for monks and Buddhists in the province to register to participate as volunteers to support the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic on the provincial area. Thereby, 50 volunteers have volunteered to participate in this program. To ensure safety during the participation process, before leaving, all volunteers were tested and had negative results for Covid-19 and were vaccinated against Covid-19 and as well as thoroughly trained.
Venerable Monk Thich Hue Thong, Head of the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association in the province, said: “With the spirit of commitment to serve, all monks and Buddhists voluntarily participate and feel deeply the meaning of the program. We hope that volunteers, when participating in supporting activities, must show selflessness, altruism, commitment and dedication to bring the best to the people in the process of performing their tasks. In particular, they must strictly abide by all regulations and instructions of the localities to which they are sent to participate. For the very noble meaning of Buddhism that is "serving sentient beings means making offerings to the Buddhas", we believe that the formation will make a small contribution to the prevention and control of Covid-19."
Speaking at the line-up departure ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc said that in recent years, many organizations, individuals and business communities inside and outside of the province have shared and supported human resources, vehicles, goods and business for the province's Covid-19 prevention and control including the great contribution and support of monks and Buddhists in the province. Mr. Nguyen Van Loc highly appreciates and respectfully acknowledges the positive contributions of Binh Duong Buddhism to the overall development of the province in recent years, especially in the work of participating in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. Wishing all the volunteers participating in this epidemic prevention and control work good health and peace, he reminds that in the process of participating in local support volunteers must always pay attention to their health and take good measures to protect themselves in order to well complete their assigned tasks and contribute their efforts together with the province and locality to well control the epidemic situation in the area.
On this occasion, the provincial Vietnamese Fatherland Front Committee and the provincial Vietnamese Buddhist Association Executive Board presented the volunteers with meaningful gifts to promptly encourage the volunteers' spirit.
After the dispatching ceremony, volunteers were coordinated to participate in supporting epidemic prevention and control in 3 wards in Thu Dau Mot city including Phu Hoa, Phu Tan and Dinh Hoa.
