Despite the impacts of the world economic downturn, the province’s agriculture and rural development sector in 2009 reaped some positive results, facilitating its completion of the key tasks for 2010.
In 2009, the local agriculture and rural development sector’s total production value was estimated to reach more than VND2.62 trillion, representing an increase of 4.61% compared to 2008. Despite decreases in farm land and labor structure, the sector’s structure still saw a positive growth with cultivation and animal husbandry proportions at 68.2% and 27.1%, respectively. Main farm products continued to see a stable development, including rubber latex reaching a total output of 179,998 tons, up 3.09%; poultry and cattle meat with 66,041 tons, up 8.82%...
Apartedly, the local agriculture and rural development sector well realized its tasks of veterinary and plant protection. The total number of poultry in the province with vaccination was 9.2mln, or 98% of total. The sector also got the high ratio of vaccination against diseases in cattle.
In terms of the countryside’s social-economic infrastructure, the local agriculture and rural development sector last year worked out 464 rural traffic works of more than 271km with a total cost of VND224bln; all the roads to the centers of communes were covered by asphalt; 98.73 % and 93% of households in the countryside were in use of power and clean water…The whole sector also implemented 485 tentative points on the agricultural and fishery promotion models; organized 253 training courses on technical know-hows in cultivation and livestock breeding for the local farmers…
In 2010, the local agricultural and rural development will further transfer sci-tech advancements to farmers; raise the quality of agricultural laborers; take plans and measures against diseases in animals and crop plants; recheck the sector’s projects that must be line with the province’s development process; stabilize planning for agricultural production to ensure a good agricultural production environment, contributing to the stable development of the local agricultural sector…, according to Le Van Rum, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
