Pupils of Hung Vuong specialized high school exchange waste for gifts
Tran Thanh Phong, a pupil of Hung Vuong specialized high school said that this was a significant and joyful day as he and other pupils not only widened their knowledge on environmental protection, but also had a chance to mutually exchange with gifts given.
The organizers also presented the 2017 environment award to 6 individuals, 7 organizations and 2 residential quarters.
Nguyen Tuan Phuong, Head of Khanh Binh ward’s Khanh Loc quarter in Tan Uyen town-among the two residential quarters winning the 2017 environment award said that Khanh Loc quarter faced serious environmental pollution over the past time. But with the efforts by the local administration, the image of the quarter has been gradually changed in recent time. The award aimed to acknowledge the efforts by the quarter in environmental hygiene and this was also a motivation for it to better do in this field.
Efforts in environmental protection
At the festival, the organizers also awarded prizes to 10 winners of the “Talking with environment” competition co-held by provincial Department of Natural Resources-Environment and Department of Education-Training. Through the competition, pupils were equipped with more skills on environment and environmental protection, thereby having practical thoughts and actions to protect the environment.
Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Vice-Director of provincial Department of Natural Resources-Environment said that the World Environment Day 2017 with the theme of “Connecting People to Nature” aims to encourage the community to connect to the nature, thereby feeling the beauty of the nature as well as its importance to the life while calling on the community to protect the earth, harmonious relations between human beings and nature.
Speaking at the festival, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee spoke highly of the efforts by provincial Department of Natural Resources-Environment, Department of Education-Training and TDM city’s People’s Committee in organizing the festival with meaningful programs. Authorities at all levels and sectors of the province need to further hasten the progress of realizing tasks and measures in the provincial Plan on Environmental Protection for the period of 2016-2020.
Also according to him, provincial Department of Education-Training needs to pay attention to bringing environmental protection activities into teaching task. Provincial Department of Natural Resources-Environment needs to strengthen inspection, supervision, and seriously handle wrong cases. He also wants people to change their consumption habit, minimizing impacts on the environment. Whilst, enterprises need to accompany the province in environmental protection. All will contribute to build up a civilized, modern, clean, green and nice city.
