Local ethnic minority people join hands in building cultural lifestyle

Over the past years, the movement of “All people consolidate to build cultural lifestyle” was promoted across the province and received enthusiastic response from the local people, including ethnic minority ones. From the movement, the local ethnic minority people made efforts in building cultural quarters, hamlets and wards…, contributing to developing Binh Duong into a civilized, prosperous and beautiful locality.

Defining that family is the cell of the society and this is also the foundation for constructing cultural quarters, hamlets, ethnic minority households in the province have tried to do business, bring up their children, join hands in pushing back social evils…The family of Vy Van Thay, born in 1938, a Nung ethnic resident in Phu Giao district’s Tan Hiep commune is a typical example for this.

Cham ethnic minority people in Hoa Loc hamlet help each other in economic development and join hands in building cultural lifestyle

Thay said that he faced a lot of difficulties when leaving Cao Bang for Binh Duong to live and set himself up in business. But, thanks to diligence and thrift, his family has to date got rich. His six children graduated from universities or colleges and now take stable jobs. His family has also actively taken part in movements launched by the local government. For many consecutive years, his family won the title of “cultural family” and is now a bright example for other ethnic minority households to follow.

Minh Hoa commune’s Hoa Loc hamlet in Dau Tieng district is now home to around 300 households, nearly 100 and more than 30 of whom are Cham ethnic group and other ethnic minority groups. Along with Kinh ethnic group, the local ethnic minority groups bravely made a shift on the structure of plants and animals to develop home based business over the past time. They also attached special importance to educating their descendants to comply with the law, joining hands in forming up a cultural hamlet. As a result, Hoa Loc won the title of “cultural hamlet” for 13 consecutive years.

Nguyen Huu Tai, Head of Hoa Loc hamlet said that this result came from the efforts by locals in economic development, joining hands in building cultural lifestyle. The local government was very excited at achievements done and will continue mobilizing locals to further promote movements, heightening their vigilance and driving back social evils.

In addition, the province has always paid attention to restoring and preserving traditional festivals and cultural features of the local ethnic minority groups. This has step by step enhanced the quality of building cultural families, quarters and hamlets in areas having ethnic minority people, contributing to upholding the fine traditions of Vietnamese families and community. Especially, also from the movement, ethnic minority people in the province have gradually eradicated several unsound customs like child marriage, superstition…

Possibly seeing, the movement of “All people consolidate to build cultural lifestyle with contributions by ethnic minority people has created a new image in the process of building new rural areas while contributing to realizing the local targets on socio-cultural and economic development.

The whole province is home to around 20 ethnic minority groups with more than 4,500 households and 17,000 people. In the coming time, the province will boost propaganda work in order to further bring the movement to the life of people in general and ethnic minority ones in particular.
