The provincial visually-impaired People Society yesterday held a 43rd founding anniversary of the Vietnam Blind People Association (April 17, 1969-2012) and a 5-year summing up conference on its activity with the participation of the provincial People’s Council chairman Vu Minh Sang and 100 typical members of the provincial visually-impaired society at all levels.

Collectives and individuals were honored. Since its inception, the association’s blind people’ life has been improved significantly. On the occasion, the provincial visually-impaired People Society reviewed its 5-year program on poverty reduction. Accordingly, the society has been set up across 7 districts and townships with 752 out of 808 members, reaching over 90%. At present, the local blind people have enjoyed policies such as health insurance granting, monthly subsidies, hi-unity house and saving book grantings and so on. In addition, the society has developed more 3 production facilities to generate jobs for 124 laborers with an average income of over VND1.2mil per capita per month…At the conference, Vu Minh Sang lauded the local blind people’s contributions and asked authorities and mass bodies to pay more attention to the society members’ life. Also the occasion, 21 individuals were granted “For blind people’s happiness” insignia, 3 collectives and 6 individuals were awarded merit certificates from the central blind people association, 5 workgroups and 8 individuals were honored by the provincial People’s Committee.
