Provincial Labor Union and Youth Union yesterday co-held a ceremony to launch the 2017 provincial Workers’ Month and Workers’ Week. Attending the event were Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly delegation; Nguyen Thanh Liem, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Public Relations; Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee together with representatives of sectors, departments together with nearly 1,000 trade union officials and workers in the province.
Joining hands towards employees
With the theme of “For sustainable development of enterprises, employment and life of laborers”, the 2017 provincial Workers’ Month and Workers’ Week will focus on 4 main topics, including boosting propaganda work to protect legitimate rights and interests of laborers; organizing numerous activities to better ensure social welfare, rights and interests of laborers, honor outstanding enterprises in integration and development, respond to the Action Month for Labor Safety and Hygiene…

Accordingly, many practical activities will be held for workers at province-industrial parks and compounds. They comprise of presenting gifts to young workers living away from home with difficult circumstances; promoting a “working well, working creatively” emulation movement among laborers; maintaining periodic dialogues between laborers and enterprises; organizing art performances; providing free medical check-ups and medicine for laborers; setting trade union locals at non-State enterprises; making dissemination of information about the Labor Code, the Law on Labor Safety and Hygiene…This is also a chance for organizations and individuals to express their attention to laborers living, studying and working in the province while helping young workers train their life skills and raise their responsibility to the society.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr.Hung praised achievements done by laborers over the past time and affirmed that laborers have also made great contributions to the local development. Hence, this year’s Workers’ Month and Workers’ Week is seen as the peak period for activities caring for the spiritual and material lives of laborers from authorities at all levels, sectors, mass organizations, enterprises and the entire political system in the province. The province has always created the most favorable conditions for all laborers to study, work, live and enjoy policies on social welfare.
Miura Hiroki, General Director of Foster Vietnam Electronics Co.Ltd. said: “With a point of view “Laborers are seen as special assets of enterprises”, since its inception, the company has always paid attention to taking care of the spiritual and material lives of laborers, building harmonious, stable labor relations to ensure sustainable development.
Warm gifts
At the ceremony, the organizers presented 50 gifts worth VND1million each to workers with extremely difficult circumstances and those hit by labor accidents.
The “iCare Benefits” program also gave 50 gifts for needy workers. After three years of implementation, the program has absorbed over 800 companies with over 1.6 million workers in 47 provinces and cities nationwide. In Binh Duong alone, it has been deployed by more than 150 companies with more than 300,000 laborers.
Ma Van Viet, Vice-Chairman of Apparel Far Eastern Vietnam Co.Ltd.’s Trade Union said that laborers have always received attention from leaders of the company and mass organizations at all levels. Over the past years, the Workers’ Month and Workers’ Week actually become a motivation for laborers to live and work with a range of useful playgrounds organized.
In addition, the organizers offered 14 support packages from provincial Fund for Alien Young Workers to alien young workers with extremely difficult circumstances and awarded the certificates of merit of provincial Labor Union Standing Committee to 32 outstanding units, enterprises in taking care of the lives of laborers on the 2017 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival. 14 secretaries of Youth Union branches, heads of Association branches for young workers and young workers also received the certificates of merit of provincial Youth Union Standing Committee for their excellent performance in entrusted tasks.
