Localities in the province overcome difficulties to speed up vaccinations for people

In order to ensure the progress of Covid-19 vaccination according to the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, localities in the province have carried out creative and effective ways, such as establishing mobile vaccination teams coming to households, lodging houses, various forms of propagation... These methods have made it easier for people to access vaccines as quickly as possible, as soon as possible.

Effectiveness from mobile vaccination

Instead of propagating covid-19 vaccination on loudspeakers social networking sites as before, localities are constantly changing their ways to reach and vaccinate people as quickly as possible. Accordingly, more than 50% of commune and ward administration officials have participated in the vaccination work in recent days. For example, in Phu Hoa ward of Thu Dau Mot City, officials of Veterans Union, Youth Union and Women's Union have divided the area, reviewed people groups according to each household and lodging house. Those who have not been injected will received a notice posted in front of their lodging room or hand-delivered so that they know where to go for the injection.

Mobile vaccination teams come to each household, lodging house to give third Covid-19 shots for people.

People's Committee of Phu Hoa ward has set up a fixed injection sites day and night in quarter 8. The remaining quarters set up mobile vaccination teams. Based on the daily review list of officials, in the evening, the injection teams came to each household, lodging house to s injection. Phan Cong Khanh, Party Secretary of Phu Hoa ward, said: "After Tet, workers at factories have done overtime continuously, returned to their lodging room at 9.00 pm and worked even on weekends. As a result, most workers don't have free time to get injections. Thereby, the ward has changed our way of doing things, instead of waiting, injection teams approach the people as quickly as possible. With this method, the ward has injected about 80% people in the area with third shots”.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Dinh Tan, Administration Head of quarter 9, Phu Cuong Ward, Thu Dau Mot City, said: "After Tet, many people from other localities have come and stayed in this neighborhood to do business. These people barely care much about local covid-19 vaccination announcements. Through owners of lodging houses, administration of the quarter made a list and found that there were some people who had not received first and second shots. With the current nightly mobile vaccination, there are only 7 people left in this neighborhood who have not received the third shot. These are elderly people, people with underlying medical conditions and are in poor health, hence their family did not agree with the injection. The quarter made a list and gave additional injections to all those who came and stay here after Tet."

With a high determination to complete the third shot for the people on schedule, the mobile vaccination teams in Dau Tieng district, Phu Giao district also prove their effectiveness. Vo Van Loi, Chairman of An Binh commune People's Committee, Phu Giao District, said: "The commune does not have many people staying in lodging houses, this is also an advantage in implementing covid-19 vaccination. However, one problem of our commune is the large area, there are families living far from radio system, hence administration staff had to go to each household to inform them. On Saturdays and Sunday, mobile vaccination teams come to these households to give injections, including many ethnic minority households. In populous areas, we set up fixed injection sites, thus we achieved a very high rate of vaccination compared to the plan."

Some difficulties about... numbers

Under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and all localities in the province have shown high determination by performing practical ways, trying to complete the third shot campaign on schedule. However, localities are facing certain difficulties. Phan Cong Khanh said that many families said that they had received the third shot, but as compared with the number of second shots previously, there was a remarkable difference. The reason is that many people were previously vaccinated with the second shot at this ward, but after Tet they returned to their hometown or moved to other places, thus it is impossible to inject the third shot in the ward.

Moreover, during the Covid-19 peak, there were many people from other localities coming to Phu Hoa ward and asking for second shots, but now they receive injections elsewhere. "Therefore, based on the number of previous second shots reported to provincial Department of Health, the ward cannot complete 100%. However, we have made great efforts, show high determination to follow directions of all levels."

Nguyen Van Binh, Vice Chairman of Dau Tieng District People's Committee, said that although the district has made many efforts in speeding up the vaccination of the third dose against Covid-19, it is difficult to reach 100% in terms of number compared to the second shot. The main reason is that there are some people delayed their second shot, hence by the end of March, they will be eligible for third shot (the gap between second and third shots is 3 months) as prescribed by the Ministry of Health.

Another problem is that currently volunteers assisting the vaccination campaign are no longer available, so the work of data entry and processing on the system is sometimes slow, especially the entry of vaccination information for children from 12 to 14 years old who do not have ID cards. Currently, there are many vaccine types that do not have information on database of Provincial Center for Disease Control, thus the 4-step data entry is still difficult for district and commune levels to fulfill.

In general, besides some difficulties with completing targets, most communes and wards in the province have made many efforts, carried out good practices, are striving to complete the target set out in the third-shot vaccination campaign for people.
