Taking 3,000 samples related to 3 suspected cases for Covid-19 testing
According to Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Director of provincial Department of Health, regarding 2 sisters infected with Covid-19 in Ho Chi Minh City with an address in Binh Chuan ward’s Binh Quoi B quarter in Thuan An city, there were 3 Covid-19 infections, including the mother, sister and brother of the two sisters. On the night of May 30, provincial leaders along with medical forces went to the locality to directly direct the implementation of measures against the pandemic in Binh Chuan ward. The province is expected to take over 3,000 samples for Covid-19 testing in these localities, of which over 2,000 samples are collected in Thuan An city, nearly 1,000 samples in Thu Dau Mot city.
According to Dr. Nguyen Hong Chuong, Binh Duong is now at the risk of the pandemic outbreak, due to the source of infection from Ho Chi Minh City, possibly related to a religious mission with a variant virus from India. The spreading ability of the new virus strain is very fast, with a short cycle (1-2 days). The new virus strain is likely to enter Binh Duong from May 23 to now, so it may spread in Binh Duong from 3-4 cycles. At the meeting, localities, departments and sectors in the province proposed a number of solutions against the pandemic, including raising isolation capacity to 10,000 people, well controlling the risk of infection sources entering industrial parks, establishing traffic posts on key roads; improve the operational capacity of anti-Covid-19 groups at enterprises and lodging facilities; conducting the 10th grade entrance exam with 2 phases; implementing social distancing under the Directives 15 and 16 of the Prime Minister depending on each locality’s pandemic situation.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Thao said that facing the complicated developments of the pandemic, provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control has continuously had working sessions and instructions against the pandemic. Provincial People's Committee Chairman agreed on preparatory plans for the upcoming 10th grade entrance exam on June 2 and 3. The phase 2 of the exam is for students in isolation and blockade zones. He emphasized that the province needs to effectively attack pandemic-hit areas by material facilities, a sense of responsibility, proactiveness of leaders of units and localities.
“We fight the pandemic in two pandmic-hit areas, including Binh Chuan ward in Thuan An city and Hiep Thanh ward in Thu Dau Mot city, by hard measures. The province has reached unanimity on applying the Prime Minister’s Directive 15 with localities: Thuan An city, Di An city, Thu Dau Mot city, Ben Cat town, Tan Uyen town; applying the Prime Minister’s Directive 16 in a part of Binh Chuan ward in Thuan An city and a part of Hiep Thanh ward in Thu Dau Mot city. For Bau Bang district, it is necessary to zone out places with a large number of workers and factories for applying the Directive 15. The remaining districts almost implement the Directive 19”, emphasized Mr. Thao.
Provincial People's Committee Chairman also pointed out that the local authorities need to ensure normal life for people in quarantined areas. The sector of industry and trade needs to regulate and stabilize market prices. All arterial roads such as National Highway 13, My Phuoc - Tan Van expressway, National Highway 1K, inter-provincial roads are proposed to set up checkpoints. The public security sector has the main responsibility while functional sectors have clear assignment, not to cause traffic jams…
Leaders of 9 districts, towns, cities, trade unions, and provincial Industrial Parks Management Board are responsible for directing the activities of community-based anti-Covid-19 groups at businesses and lodging facilities. The province will requisition hotels, lodging facilities and assign them to Chairpersons of the People's Committees, the heads of the steering committee of Covid-19 prevention and control of districts, towns or cities for pandemic prevention and control.
The province has also purchased 30,000 test kits and equipment for pandemic prevention and control, meeting requirements when the situation of the pandemic changes badly. The workplace of agencies and units must ensure safety. All suspected persons with signs of cough or fever must stay at home. The media needs to grasp the province’s directions in order to make dissemination, helping people strictly implement measures against the pandemic, and give material and spiritual support for the local fight against the pandemic.
Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An city’s People's Committee: Up to now, police and military forces in coordination with provincial Center for Disease Prevention and Control have traced more 166 F1 cases related to the new Covid-19 infection cases. Currently, the city has 4 isolation areas with a capacity of 600 people. The city is also activating the dormitory of Irrigation University as an isolation zone and is planning to add Trinh Hoai Duc High School as an isolation facility while isolating 400 households with more than 2,000 people. The city also proposes the province to stop activities at religious establishments, coordinate with inter-sectoral agencies to make unexpected checks at coach stations to check people returning from pandemic-hit areas.
