Reportedly, the province’s bird flu and foot-and-mouth disease situation was still stable and did not cause serious losses for the local breeders in the first half of this year. But, the province is facing the complicated development of the blue-ear-pig epidemic disease. The whole province, as of August 10, had 6 out of 7 districts and town with 32 communes and 206 households hit by the epidemic disease. 2,229 out of 5,441 infected pigs were culled with a total weight of 72,881 kg.
At the meeting, representatives of sectors, departments and localities also presented some obstacles in preventing the blue-ear-pig epidemic disease and culling infected pigs.
Addressing the meeting, Mr.Nam suggested localities and relevant agencies to boost education on the blue-ear-pig epidemic disease development and precautionary measures among the local people. For localities that have not yet been hit by the blue-ear-pig epidemic disease, there needs to be effective ways to prevent the epidemic disease.
