On Jan 21st, provincial Labor Confederation held a conference to summarize Trade Union activities in 2020. Honored guests were Ngo Duy Hieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party's Propagation Department.
In 2020, under the direction of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Binh Duong Provincial Party and Steering Committee for Disease Control and Control, provincial Labor Confederation took actions and implemented drastically the prevention and control of epidemic; At the same time, focused on many activities to care for and support trade unionists and workers affected by Covid-19. Provincial Labor Confederation implemented a loan package of VND50 billion funded by provincial Trade Union to support trade unionists, workers were struggling due to the impact of Covid-19. There were 1,631 supported cases with the amount of VND 8 billion 155 million. Provincial Labor Confederation directed trade unions at all levels to review, prepare dossiers and expenditures to support union members and workers affected by Covid-19, with a support amount of VND 500,000 each case for 4,203 trade union members and workers totalling more than VND 2.1 billion. Trade unions of communes, wards and townships actively collaborated with local unions and governments to encourage lodging houses' owners to exempt, reduce rent payment for workers. There were 1,170 lodging houses implementing rent exemptions and discounts with nearly 15,000 lodging rooms, and other forms of support to workers, with a total amount of nearly VND 5.5 billion per month.
In addition, provincial Labor Confederation cooperated, sign welfare program with 8 units and deploy to trade union levels, raising the total to 58 units. On average, there were more than 300,000 union members and workers benefited from these programs with the amount of over VND 10 billion. Up to now, there has been nearly 660,000 trade union members and workers benefited with a total amount of more than VND 21 billion. In addition, trade unions at all levels promptly took care of, regularly monitored, encouraged, visited and supported nearly 19,980 union members, workers in difficult circumstances, suffering fatal diseases, unexpected accidents...
Speaking at the conference, Ms. Truong praised and acknowledged accomplishments of provincial trade unions in 2020. She noted provincial trade unions need to continue propagating guidelines, resolutions and legal policies of the Party and the State among trade union officials, members, and workers; focus on propagation about of Party resolutions at all levels among workers in a practical way. To prepare and take care of workers during Lunar New Year 2021...
