Many solutions strengthened to take care of workers' lives

Currently, some enterprises in the province are still facing difficulties in orders and production, making life more difficult for workers. Therefore, Trade Unions at all levels in the province proposed key solutions to better care for employees. The review of businesses that are facing difficulties and the number of affected employees is being carried out.

In the first months of 2023, most businesses in the province have well taken care of worker’s lives and benefits. In photo: TCL Company (VSIP 2) has built two football fields worth more than 1 billion VND to create a playground for employees.

Some outstanding activities

According to Provincial Labor Confederation, currently, to enterprises facing difficulties in production, late payment of wages, changing salary calculation methods without negotiation with workers, trade unions at all levels promptly coordinated with competent agencies to support enterprises and employees to negotiate and properly settle legal and legitimate suggestions of employees. Trade Unions organized consultations in many forms with topics related to collective labor agreements, labor rules at enterprises, regimes on salary increase, maternity, social insurance, support policies of the Government and Trade Union for union members and workers facing difficulties due to the Covid-19, policies to support rent for employees... Especially, Provincial Labor Labor Confederation directed Legal Counseling Center of Binh Duong Trade Union to support to file lawsuits as authorized by employees. Thereby, interests of many employees are guaranteed according to law.

In addition, Provincial Labor Confederation focuses on organizing activities to take care of women workers and workers' children. Provincial Labor Confederation presented 148 "Vietnam Trade Union Savings Book" to children of union members who died from the Covid-19, with a total expense of nearly 1.5 billion VND; organized meetings, encouraged, and awarded scholarships, which were financed by businesses’ support, to 270 children who are children of workers having difficult circumstances, and whose father or mother died of Covid-19. In addition, trade unions at all levels also organized activities to award 40,170 scholarships at beginning of the new school year, with a total amount of VND 19.3 billion; gave gifts to children on occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival…

Trade unions at all levels also promptly support and introduce jobs to employees. In addition to protecting the interests of workers who lost their jobs, Provincial Labor Confederation proactively proposed many solutions to promptly support employees, proactively updated and provided information about businesses that need to recruit workers so that employees know and find new jobs through many forms, for example, social networks, such as Facebook of Binh Duong Trade Union, Zalo group, fanpage of superior Trade Unions. In addition, Trade Unions at all levels mobilized socialization resources to donate gifts to employees, mobilized lodging house’s owners to exempt and reduce accommodation fees for disadvantaged workers.

Le Minh Hoang, Vice Chairman of Tan Uyen Town Labor Confederation, said that because some enterprises are having difficulties in production, the town's Labor Confederation accelerated the implementation of Decision No. 6696/QD-TLD of Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Currently, this unit is evaluating 25 dossier sets of 24 companies (with grassroots trade union) with 4,374 union members and employees, whose working hours have been reduced, stopped, and labor contract performance was temporarily suspended. Grassroots trade unions is actively participating in the construction of a harmonious, stable and progressive labor relationship. Labor Confederation of Tan Uyen Town continues to implement welfare programs for union members, mobilizes businesses to open welfare and discount markets, and strengthens care for needy, ill, and sick workers...

Key solutions

In the first months of 2023, Provincial Labor Confederation directed grassroots trade unions to supervise and join hands with enterprises to well implement laws, especially labor law on salary, bonus and welfare regimes for employees in order to encourage employees stay with enterprises, and at the same time serve as a basis to attract labor sources. Provincial Labor Confederation also directed trade unions at all levels to strengthen their involvement with enterprises in dialogue activities at the workplace, negotiation, signing of collective labor agreements, and provide legal advice to help employees and businesses have confidence in each other. Since then, many concerns, aspirations, and pressing concerns of employees have been promptly resolved by enterprises, and difficulties of enterprises have been sympathized and shared by employees.

Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, Vice President of Provincial Labor Confederation said: “Along with cooperation agreements signed by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Provincial Labor Confederation actively signed with partners in the province to provide practical products for union members and employees at discounted prices from 10-40%. This is a meaningful activity that helps employees acquire good products with preferential prices, and at the same time helps to enhance the implementation of corporate social responsibility, improve the role and responsibility of trade union towards union members, helps employees to work stress-free and confidently.

Also, according to Nguyen Hoang Bao Tran, the review, consultancy, job introduction for employees also receive attention of the unit. The organization of practical activities to take care of the material and mental lives of employees, especially during the Workers' Month, the founding day of Vietnam Trade Union, Lunar New Year with a series of "Tet reunion" activities will continue to be enhanced... At the same time, the Provincial Labor Confederation also advises, proposes, and recommends the authorities and enterprises to jointly take care of and help workers; thereby creating motivation for employees to gradually overcome difficulties, feel secure in production, stay with enterprises, and join hands for the development of the province.
