Many universities announce admission plans

In order to create conditions for candidates to proactively develop the most suitable study plan before the upcoming university entrance exam, at this time, many universities in Binh Duong province have prepared plans for enrollment in 2024. This is the last year of enrollment under the 2006 General Education Program, schools are expected to keep enrollment methods stable as in previous years.

 Stabilize enrollment methods

To implement the policy of Ministry of Education and Training regarding stabilizing the 2024 high school graduation exam method, some higher education institutions have announced their orientations for next year's enrollment. At this time, some schools have announced their plan for enrollment methods in 2024. This is an important basis for students to proactively develop their own most appropriate learning plan.

In 2024, Binh Duong University plans to recruit more than 1,600 regular university students for mass programs according to 5 admission methods: Admission is based on the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam; Admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2024; Admission is based on academic results of three years of grades 10, 11, 12 (based on transcripts); Admission is based on academic results of grade 12 (based on transcripts), and admission is based on the highest average score in subjects of the first and second semesters of grade 10, grade 11 and first semester of grade 12 (based on high school transcripts).

According to Dr. Do Doan Trang, Vice Rector of Binh Duong University, in 2024, Binh Duong University reserves 70% of admission slots based on high school academic results, 25% of admission slots based on high school graduation exam scores, and 5% of admission slots based on competency test scores. The school will begin accepting applications from January 5, 2024. In general, this year's enrollment plan of the school has not changed compared to last year. The school still has preferential regimes and policies for new students.

In 2024, Eastern International University will maintain the same enrollment plan as in 2023 with 4 admission methods: high school transcripts; the results of the 2024 high school graduation exam; the competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University; direct admission according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education & Training. In particular, the method of admission based on high school transcripts is expected to account for 50-60% of the admission slots, and the method based on high school exam results in 2024 is expected to account for 30% to 40% of the admission slots.

2024 is the last year that universities enroll students under the 2006 General Education program. In 2025, schools will have to change their admission plans to match the high school graduation exam plan according to the new program that has just approved by the Ministry of Education & Training. At the 2024 university admission conference that just took place, the Ministry of Education & Training requested schools to have an early enrollment plan for 2024 and avoid causing confusion for candidates. According to the Ministry of Education & Training, in the 2023 enrollment period, there were still some schools that applied too complicated admission methods, many places did not ensure fairness, and allocated slots inappropriately, causing difficulties for candidates.

Enhance career counseling and student recruitment

Career counseling plays an important role in helping students correctly find their career, avoiding the situation when the high school graduation exam and university admission are approaching but students still do not know which major they like and choose which school to be suitable to their abilities and strengths. Therefore, in addition to regular programs, during this period, high schools and continuing education centers in the province also coordinated with universities inside and outside the province to organize career and admission counseling sessions for students.

In 2024, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology will open two new majors: electric car technology and e-commerce, bringing the total number of university-level training majors to 18. It is expected that the school will receive applications for admission based on methods such as reviewing academic transcripts; high school graduation exam results in 2024; results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2024. Besides, the school has many incentive policies for new students enrolling at BETU. Currently, the school has organized groups to provide career counseling, career orientation for students in high schools, vocational education centers, and continuing education in the province and neighboring provinces and cities.

As a companion with students in career counseling sessions, MSc. Trinh Hoang Xuan Phuc, Director of Communication and Career Consulting Center, Binh Duong University of Economics and Technology, said that at career counseling sessions, the school tried to convey useful contents to equip students with skills to approach, explore, choose and develop careers; raise students’ awareness of appropriate future career choices and orientations. In addition, consulting sessions also help students have an overall picture of professions to choose and register for appropriate universities, colleges, and professional junior colleges in the upcoming 2024 admission period.

At this stage, 12th grade students need more attention and advice from school and family. Therefore, when career orientation is done early, it will help students have a clear perception and choose the right career that is suitable for them in the future.

In 2024, the competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City National University will continue to develop in a stable direction, with two rounds of testing before the high school graduation exam, the first round on April 7, 2024, the second on June 2, 2024. The exam was held simultaneously in 23 provinces and cities, including Binh Duong. Candidates register for the first round of exam from January 22 to March 4, and round 2 from April 16 to May 7.
