Meaningful playgrounds on spring days

Competitions in rice cake cooking, fashion shows using recycled materials, or Tet folks games that Trade Union of Binh Duong Industrial Parks organized in the "Animated Spring" program last weekend, opened meaningful playgrounds for thousands of workers celebrating the traditional Tet.

Grassroots Trade Unions take part in the cooking contest of “banh chung” and “banh tet”.

Cozy taste of Tet holiday

At exactly 7 a.m., thousands of workers of Trade Union of Binh Duong Industrial Parks were present at Provincial Labor Cultural Center to participate in spring competitions and performances. At this time, all eyes were on the “banh chung” and “banh tet” cooking contest, where had the participation of 30 affiliated grassroots trade unions. Each unit has 12 members, fully prepared baking ingredients, such as: meat, leaves, sticky rice, cooking pot, firewood... and must complete three pairs of banh chung, three pairs of banh tet within 1 hour according to rules. Along with the cheers of thousands of workers creating a bustling atmosphere, the hands of tailors, machinists, welders... were now flexible, made pairs of banh chung and banh tet that were neat, beautiful and delicious like skilled bakers.

In addition to the completion time requirement, the jury also gave points based on the aesthetics, flavor of the cakes, and decoration of each team. Chau Hoang Anh, Trade Union officer of Virte King Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Song Than 2 Industrial Park), said: “This whole week, my team had been constantly researching on baking websites on how to wrap the most delicious rice cakes. It can be said that this is a very meaningful competition in spring, with the flavor of Tet, so everyone was very excited to participate. Like right now, we are standing among hundreds of people baking and cooking cakes together, the atmosphere of Tet is present, another spring has rushed into everyone's minds."

Three hours passed, union members and workers took turns standing by charcoal stoves; The scent of rice cake began to spread, blending into the spring weather, making the flavors of Tet more evident. Pham Xuan Phuc, Hung Phuoc Company (Song Than 2 Industrial Park), who took part in the contest, said: "My mother taught me the "secret" of baking since I was young, so I am very confident of winning a high prize this time. To make a soft, flexible, delicious cake, the cook must prepare carefully by soaking the sticky rice for the prescribed time, and the meat filling must be marinated for many hours before wrapping. Cooking time must be 6 hours. After the first 3 hours, you must take out all the cakes, change the water and cook again from the beginning, so the cakes will not darken, keep their green color and when eaten will be very fragrant...".

Even more meaningful after the competition, hundreds of banh chung and banh tet will be delivered as Tet gifts to union members and workers in particularly difficult, sick, and accident circumstances under Trade Union of Binh Duong Industrial Parks.

Join hands to protect the environment

In the absolutely balanced and food-loaded competitions, each competition was attractive and carried a unique message. That was to uphold discipline, teamwork, and ingenuity of each participating member. The fashion show competition using recycled materials conveyed to everyone the message of environmental protection and green - clean - beautiful lifestyle. This competition had the participation of 26 affiliated grassroots trade unions. From simple materials such as paper, foam, rags... teams recycled them into beautiful costumes, carrying the messages of green environmental protection.

Truong Hoang Nhu, a worker of Puku Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dong An Industrial Park), was the only male contestant who impressed the jury and thousands of workers when he confidently put on a fashionable paper dress and walking on high heels. He said: “The reason I broke the rules and dared to wear a women's dress during the exam was because I wanted to impress all union members and workers across the country to join hands in protecting the environment. Let's start taking action now, not just spread news and leave it at that. Many people are not aware of littering the environment, even the workplace."

Tran Ngoc Van, Vice Chairman of Trade Union of Binh Duong Industrial Parks, said: “Besides taking care of material things, we create a Tet playground with attractive games so that all union members and workers can enjoy a meaningful playground. Typically, the banh chung and banh tet cooking competition is a symbol of the traditional national holiday. We want all employees, no matter what region or region, when coming to work in Binh Duong to feel a full Tet holiday."

In addition to the "Busy Spring" program with many games, meeting the spiritual life of workers, Binh Duong Industrial Parks’ Trade Union also takes the lead in three sessions of "Trade Union Tet Market" Spring Giap Thin 2024 to serve union members and workers. Binh Duong Industrial Parks’ Trade Union will also organize a "Tet reunion" program to give gifts, free train and bus tickets, and musical performances to employees. This year, Binh Duong Industrial Parks’ Trade Union was allocated 8,000 gifts from the Provincial People's Committee, equivalent to 1 million VND/gift. This unit also allocated an additional 5,000 gifts to employees at the end of the year, encouraged grassroots unions to take care of them. It is expected that over 100,000 trade union members will receive Tet gifts. Besides, the Trade Union has paid Tet visits to workers living in rented accommodation who are in particularly difficult circumstances...
