Deputy State
President Nguyen Thi Doan and leaders of the Vietnam General Confederation of
Labour, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Ministry of
Education and Training yesterday paid a working visit to Binh Duong on a survey
of laborers’ working and living conditions at some Southern localities.

Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan made a tour to Showe Gloves Vietnam Ltd. and URC Vietnam Company at VISIP. Showe Gloves Vietnam Ltd. is one of foreign businesses with a large number of laborers. At present, the company has completed its 1st phase investment capitalized at UD$35mil with a capacity of 30,000 gloves. The company has lured 1,050 laborers and planned to recruit 4,000 workers.
The company general director Keizo Shato, said with 70% of female laborers, the company has built one dormitory for workers since 2008. The company has intended to build 2 more dorms for them.

State President applauded the company leaders’ efforts and hoped that the
company would spur policies of training, cultural exchange and social welfare
for workers.

The provincial department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, said local companies’ laborers have yet to meet local demand on industrial development, owing to limited skills. In addition, local laborers’ income includes wage, overtime and subsidies.
Most of the local laborers are immigrant laborers, so their demand on accommodation is very huge. However, only 200 businesses have met the demand for 40,000 laborers. The entire province is in need of accommodation for 250,000 laborers.
The provincial People’s Committee vice chairman Huynh Van Nhi said that the province has set out measures to solve this status. Many private clinics, kindergartens have gradually met workers’ demand. Especially, the province has launched social housing projects and strived to have 50% of laborers enjoying accommodations by 2015.
After the working visit, Nguyen Thi Doan applauded local efforts and steered the locality to set out measures to keep laborers and talk to them to solve timely shortcomings.
