Accordingly, Mekong Delta provinces will carry out comprehensive development in the industrial, agricultural, trade, service and tourism sectors.
They will also give priority to renew the machine technology, equipment; improve traffic systems and irrigation works to serve agricultural and fisheries production and link the delta with other regions.
The provinces will focus on addressing social issues, including protecting the land, water and air environment; developing job centres; carrying out national programs on poverty reduction; creating conditions for the poor to expand production; continuing to assist the poor with housing, clean water, production land, vocational training and employment; increasing social welfare and humanitarian activities.
In addition, solutions to curb economic slowdown and maintain economic growth will also be reinforced to ensure jobs for labourers.
Provinces will increase the efficiency of job creation funds; enhance job creation in non-official sectors; expand efficient job creation models at the local levels; and promote labour export.
Provinces will also pay attention to vocational training based on the demand of the labour force, with priority for the jobless, young labourers and hi-tech labourers in industrial zones.
According to the steering committee of southwest region, 20% of the region’s labourers lack employment. The labour market is developing more slowly than others, with 70% of labourers still untrained./.
