Mid-Autumn Festival for underprivileged children

Leaders of provincial People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and mass organizations yesterday visited and presented 900 gifts worth VND100mln to underprivileged children at province-based social sponsoring centers, helping them enjoy a significant and sweet Mid-Autumn Festival.

Giving children a happy Mid-Autumn Festival

First, the delegation visited and presented 31 gifts to children at Thuan An social sponsoring center. Children herein also performed songs about the Mid-Autumn Festival to welcome the delegation.

On behalf of the delegation, Standing member of provincial People’s Council Mai Thi Dung wished that children herein will become good children to be worthy with the attention of the entire society.

Ninh Quoc Binh, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that this activity is held annually by the province. To date, children with difficulties at the center have got more attention from the society, but the center needs to have more substantial activities for children, contributing to taking care of their material and spiritual lives.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Huynh Dinh, Vice-Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee visited provincial Association for the Blind and presented mid-autumn gifts to members’ children.

The delegation also visited and presented 37 gifts to children at Bo De pagoda in Thuan An town. It is known that the center is urgently preparing for a mid-autumn festival with many significant activities, including art performances and folk games, for children on the evening of Sept.28.

On this occasion, children at Ben San leper house received Mid-Autumn presents from the delegation. Ben San leper house will also organize a Mid-Autumn Festival with many meaningful activities, contributing to creating an useful playground for children in and out of the leper house.

Mr.Dinh said that provincial leaders, mass organizations and donors have always organized many significant activities targeting underprivileged children while hoping that they will enjoy a happy Mid-Autumn Festival and always strive to become useful citizens for the society…

Diverse activities

Along with the local government’s attention, province-based social sponsoring centers have made plans to organize practical activities for children on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012.

Provincial Social Sponsoring Center will organize a lantern parade to celebrate this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival. Center director Pham Thi Yen said that the center has tried to create useful playgrounds for children so that they get more confident to integrate into community.

Since early this week, many delegations have visited and presented gifts to Que Huong Charity Center on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival 2012. The center will also hold a festive night with many significant activities, including presenting 1,000 gifts to children at the center and giving away 50 scholarships to children with difficulties…

Representative of Thuan An Center for Disable Children said that since early this year, the center has received gifts from many organizations and individuals. Two universities in HCM city will organize a program celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival with children at the center on August 14 of lunar calendar. On the evening of August 14 of lunar calendar, the center will also organize a lantern parade for children.

Provincial Cycle for Environment (C4E) club also brought children at provincial Vocational Training Center for the Disabled and Social Sponsoring Center a happy Mid-Autumn Festival on the evening of Sept.27.

This year, under the attention of provincial leaders, mass organization and the whole society, all children across the province have enjoyed a happy and warm Mid-Autumn Festival with diverse activities, including donating gifts, organizing art performances, awarding scholarships…
