Laborers will feel secure in work if enjoying care from labor union.
One of significant activities in the Month of Workers is a program named “helping workers overcome difficulties” to share obstacles with laborers hit by occupational accidents, diseases… Dang Thi Thanh, the town Labor Union chairwoman said that the town labor union mobilized every member and public servant to spend VND1,000 for the program. From the contribution, the labor union granted 10 gift packages each worth VND500,000 to unlucky laborers.
Truong Hoang Tuan in Tan An commune, a beneficiary from the program, shared “I’m very happy and send my honest thanks to donors”. Tuan is a main bread-winner for his wife and boy. Unfortunately, he met with an occupation accident. From a healthy man, now he becomes a disabled person. His family’ life is facing difficulties.
Besides, the town labor union boosted up dialogues with unionists and laborers in a bid to learn about their aspirations. As such, a harmonic and sustainable tie between companies and workers is tightened.
According to Thanh, labor disputes and complaints from workers are mainly from misunderstanding between employers and employees. Small problems will become big ones unless measures are taken. Therefore, the dialogues are a good chance to help the two sides more understand.
To improve awareness of workers, promulgation and education are very important factors. In the Month of Workers, the town labor union held political meetings to disseminate legal knowledge for laborers.
Especially, to curb occupational accidents and diseases, the town labor union initiated a labor protection law learning contest for laborers.
Assessing results of implementing the Month of Workers, Thanh, said the Month of Workers in this year was not as lively as previous years, owing to coincidence with political events. However, the event showed care from agencies and mass bodies at all levels for laborers. And, the event will be pervaded to protect legitimate rights and interests of laborers.
