Vietnam’s labour export is expected to
enjoy growth in 2012, says the Department of Overseas Labour (DOL) under the
Ministry of Labour, Invalids, and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
DOL Deputy Director General Le Van Thanh highlights the increasing demand for guest workers in Vietnam’s traditional Asian markets.
The country now has 200,000 labourers working in these countries, accounting for 40 percent of Vietnamese working overseas, Thanh says.
Thanh also underlines Japan’s recent agreement to bring in nurse practitioners from Vietnam, as well as Vietnam’s efforts to meet labour demand in recovering markets such as Libya.
In addition, Vietnam is eyeing other developed countries such as Finland, Australia and Canada, Thanh says, adding that the high quality of labourers will be the key to these countries’ acceptance.
Therefore, he says, the DOL will focus on improving workers’ quality and sense of discipline
