Measures of electricity saving have seen effectiveness by maintaining electricity coefficient per GDP to 1 lower than the general coefficient of 2 nationwide. So as to reduce the coefficient per GDP, new measures have been proposed. Power Company of Binh Duong (PCBD) has come to the field by implementing Directive No. 171/CT-TTg in 201 on saving up electricity use, especially in months of dry season. The Prime Minister’s Directive has been effectively implemented, helping to save up 117.7 million kWh in 2012 across the province.

Reasonable design of factory lighting and production lines should save up electricity for lean production. Photo by Trinh Binh PCBD is the leading unit in improving and upgrading the grid as well as replacing transformers to reduce power loss. PCBD also supported 231 families to install solar-powered water heater to save energy while improving awareness of public users.Meantime, Department of Industry and Trade under direction of Electricity Saving Steering Board has co-host programs and workshops introducing energy audit and new synchronous production lines, etc.Mr. Nguyen Van Huu, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, Deputy Head of Electricity Saving Steering Board informed of reduction in achievements of energy saving in 2012 from 2011 among state agencies; however, the registration under Joint Circular No. 111 has not up to the plan.According to Mr. Huu, the major energy consumers were among industrial producers and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) accounting for more than 50% use of the electricity across the province. Thus, the potentials of energy saving among those groups were high; however, their outdated equipment and backward technology led to higher use of electricity which required new measures for the time to come.Deputy Chair of Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem, as Head of Electricity Saving Steering Board called upon agencies and units to join up activities improving public awareness. Besides, he urged to enhance cooperation of PCBD and 5 other provincial unions in parallel with measures for more efficient energy audit in 2011-2015 amont major establishments and administrative agencies. Public lighting should be invested with engergy-saving lights.Reported by Bao Anh – Translated by Vi Bao
