Continuing the humanitarian journey, on June 14, provincial Red Cross Society organized a program on "Scholarships for disadvantaged students; Voluntary Blood Donation Day and Humanitarian Activities". The event was attended by Nguyen Van Loi, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Nguyen Van Loc, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Council; Nguyen Loc Ha, Member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of provincial People's Committee along with members of provincial Party Standing Committee. Also being present at the event was Vu Thanh Luu, Vice President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Central Committee.
Warmth of Love
Early in the morning, 500 disadvantaged people from districts and cities in the province were supported by the local Red Cross Societies to attend the "Zero-dong” market held at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center. This market, consisting of dozens of stalls, was organized by provincial Red Cross Society with active support from districts and cities’ Red Cross Societies and contributions by enterprises and donors. Each disadvantaged person received goods worth over VND 1.1 million and two free healthcare vouchers worth VND 1.7 million. Those in need were also given free medical check-ups and medicine by volunteer doctors.

Nguyen Thi Lien (69 years old) from Bau Bang district’s Lai Uyen town, one of the disadvantaged individuals supported to attend this market, shared: "Today, I received many gifts, which makes me very happy. The gifts include many necessities for daily life. Thanks to this support, my daily living will be less difficult in the coming days. I hope there will be such more “Zero-dong markets to support the poor, disabled, and sick people like us".
According to statistics, during the last Humanitarian Month, provincial Red Cross Society organized a "Zero-dong Market" supporting 300 workers, citizens and visually impaired individuals with difficult circumstances, with a total value of VND 690 million. Additionally, provincial Red Cross Society collaborated with districts and cities’Red Cross Societies to organize nine markets supporting 2,700 disadvantaged individuals, with a total value exceeding VND 1.7 billion.
Multiplying kindness
With the noble humanitarian significance of voluntary blood donation and the message of "Donate a drop of blood - Save a life", this year's Voluntary Blood Donation Day, organized by provincial Mobilization Board for Voluntary Blood Donation, attracted over 700 volunteers across the province. This meaningful activity was in response to World Blood Donor Day (June 14) while encouraging blood donors to continue upholding the spirit of "mutual love, mutual affection”, sharing with the less fortunate and the sick who need blood for treatment.
Nguyen Thi Thuy Ngan from Thu Dau Mot city’s Tuong Binh Hiep ward has participated in voluntary blood donation for over 10 years, donating blood three times a year on average. Sharing about this meaningful activity, Mrs. Ngan said: "People say each drop of blood given means a life saved, and I find that very meaningful, so I participate in this task to share with those in need of blood for medical treatment. My blood can help patients recover and return to normal life, which is truly meaningful".
After one morning of organizing, 700 units of blood were collected. This number not only reflected the unity and collective effort of the volunteers and their noble hearts towards patients in need of blood, but also contributed to multiplying acts of kindness in life.
"How long has it been since you participated in voluntary blood donation? If you are healthy enough, join us". This sentiment and call for participation in voluntary blood donation were shared by many previous blood donors when asked about this meaningful activity. Many people expressed happiness after donating blood. This was because they contributed their small part to helping patients in need and committed to continuing this meaningful movement if they remain healthy.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Ha acknowledged and praised the efforts by the local Red Cross Society's staff, members and volunteers; the spiritual and material support from all-level levels, sectors, organizations, businesses, donors and people from all strata for humanitarian work and efforts to accompany the province in implementing social welfare programs over the past time.
He also wanted all-level Party Committees and authorities to continue supporting and facilitating the effective operation of all-level Red Cross Societies; donors, organizations, and businesses to continue helping the disadvantaged in the coming time so that humanitarian activities can spread widely in the community.
