On the morning of April 16, the supervisory delegation of the National Assembly's Judicial Committee led by Ms. Mai Thi Phuong Hoa, Deputy Head of the Committee as the Head of the delegation, supervised the topic of "Enforcement of laws on temporary detention and custody" in Binh Duong.
The delegation includes Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee's Standing Committee, Deputy Permanent Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Deputy Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council.
At the supervision session, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Diep, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, reported on the legal compliance results regarding the execution of temporary detention, remand at detention facilities under the Provincial Police in the past 3 years (2021-2023). Representatives from the Provincial Police Detention Center, Provincial People's Procuracy, and Thu Dau Mot City Police provided additional information on matters related to legal compliance in the execution of temporary detention and custody.
Members of the supervisory delegation participating in expressing opinions suggest the need to clarify further some issues surrounding the above-mentioned supervision topic. The opinions have been well received and thoroughly answered by the provincial police and the provincial People's Procuracy.
At the end of the monitoring session, Ms. Mai Thi Phuong Hoa acknowledged and highly appreciated the results achieved in the enforcement of the law on temporary detention and custody in Binh Duong. Ms. Hoa also requested the authorities and functional departments of the province to pay attention to some issues, such as: Need to assess the market closely to ensure a better food regime; regularly care for the health of detainees and prisoners.
In the afternoon of the same day, the supervisory delegation of the National Assembly's Judicial Committee conducted an on-site inspection at the temporary detention center of the provincial police and the temporary holding house of the police in Thu Dau Mot city.
