From the beginning of the year, Phu Giao District Red Cross has called upon organizations and individuals in and outside of the district to help those people in harsh circumstances. By the drive, the local Red Cross has gathered VND 5.993 billion to disburse to 13,582 cases of people in harsh circumstances.
Implementing the program of “Tet holiday for the poor and agent orange victims” the local Red Cross has called upon donation and presented 2,875 gifts at the cost of over VND 820 million. Implementing the movement of each organization and individual should be with an address of charity work, the local Red Cross has supported 1,112 turns of people by over VND 252 million. Besides, Phu Giao District Red Cross has called upon the construction and awarding of 4 charity houses to people of accommodation problems at the cost of VND 192 million, to carry out infrequent support of 382 cases of hardship at the cost of over VND 334 million, to award 237 scholarships to students in poverty at the cost of over VND 148 million.
Besides, Phu Giao District Red Cross also called upon donation for free health services and medicine to 1,748 cases of hardship across townships and communes at over VND 383 million; free eye surgery and medicines have been offered to 379 cases at the cost of nearly VND 110 million.
