Phu Giao district’s Red Cross Society mobilized nearly VND10bln from organizations and individuals, offering help to over 35,680 needy cases over the past five years.
Particularly, the society supported nearly VND38mln for people hit by natural disasters in the Central and Central Highlands regions; built and handed over 22 “red cross” houses worth nearly VND700mln to those with difficulties; implemented “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims” programs with over VND2.6bln mobilized and over 11,830 disadvantaged people helped. Under the campaign of “Each organization, individual should stick to a humanitarian address”, the society and its affiliates gave assistance of more than VND2.61bln for more than 11,000 needy people.
The society also joined hands with relevant agencies to organize eye examination and surgery for 329 cases; provide free medical check-up and medicine for more than 12,330 cases; helped 100 cases enjoy free heart check-up and surgery; effectively maintained a model of “charity kitchen” at district’s General Hospital…with a total expense of more than VND4.7bln.
Such these apart, the society mobilized its officials, members and people from all strata to give more than 4,330 units of blood.
