After surveying the needs of passengers traveling from Thu Dau Mot City to Binh Duong New City, Becamex Tokyu Bus Company purchased more vehicles and opened new bus routes on Mar 8. Takashi Furukawa, CEO of Becamex Tokyu Bus Company, said:
In order for the people become familiar with modern urban buses as well as express our gratitude to customers, from Mar 5 to 8, Becamex Tokyu Bus Company offers free bus service on new routes to all passengers. After Mar 8, the entire route ticket price for adults is VND10,000 / ticket, students is VND5,000 / ticket; and free ticket for elementary school students under 1.3 m high, the disabled, and war invalids. Buses are well-equipped, modern, clean, wifi free, and with air conditioning…
- After one pilot year, urban rapid bus model of Becamex Tokyu Bus achieved which success and experiences, sir?
- The immediate success is that rate of passengers using Becamex Tokyu buses reached 10% capacity; besides, Becamex Tokyu Bus image has gradually become familiar and friendly to the people, contributing to establishing a dynamic, youthful and modern image of Binh Duong on the development path.
We also regularly meet, listen to opinions from all levels leadership to all classes of people in the province. With the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in surveying residential areas and customer’s needs, the company adjusted routes, developed new routes to meet the needs of civil servants using free bus passes and travel needs of the people. The goal set for the new routes is to increase the bus use rate of passengers by 20% capacity in the near future.

Becamex Tokyu buses stop, embark and disembark passengers only at prescribed shelters, stations
- Could you please tell us more about the results of JICA study in adjusting and operating Becamex Tokyu urban bus routes?
- In order for new bus routes to operate well as prescribed requirements, JICA assisted us in studying and developing 4 new routes, including 3 routes shuttling within Binh Duong New City to handle the travelling demand of civil servants, students, people living, working, and studying here in accordance with project requirements. All routes pass through Hikari transfer station right behind provincial Administrative Center, which is very convenient to passengers.
In particular, the new route no. 39 has the largest length, passes through densely populated areas, offices, businesses, schools, and connects TDM Ctiy’s heart with Binh Duong New City, VSIP 2, goes through main road, like: 30- 4, Cach Mang Thang Tam, Le Hong Phong, Huynh Van Luy ... provincial Administrative Center and VSIP 2.
- In fact, many passengers have not known about rapid urban buses. How do you think about this?
- Becamex Tokyu buses is a beautiful, friendly image but quite new to bus passengers, because we always carry logos on both bus sides, and shut all doors while running. Hence, passengers mistake our buses as vehicles of companies. Therefore, we have stepped up propaganda among residential areas, schools, guided people to access and use our buses… With these activities, hopefully, the passenger number of our buses would increase, due to meeting travelling needs as well as catching the information of rapid urban bus.
