Binh Duong province has 100% communes meeting the new rural construction (NRC) standards, 3/7 units at district and town levels meeting NRC standards, completing NRC targets. Thus the province is one of the first 8 provinces and cities across the country to have 100% communes to be recognized as meeting NRC standards. In the coming time, the province will put more efforts to maintain and improve the achieved results.

Green - clean - beautiful roads in Dinh An commune, Dau Tieng District.
Good effects from new rural construction
Binh Duong is actively developing advanced NRC models. Up to now, the whole province has 7 communes that completed advanced NTMs criteria, of which 1 commune was recognized. In addition, there are many communes that meet 15-19 criteria; it is expected that the number of advanced NRC communes would reach and exceed the set target.
From these good results, the countryside has really changed; living conditions of the people have been constantly improving. Roads are concretized and upgraded to replace old red dirt ones and to connect urban centers with the countryside. New and spacious houses, together with a series of welfare works, have been put into use, contributing to improving the level of material and spiritual enjoyment for rural people.
Nguyen Tien Trung, Head of Executive Board of Hiep Tho hamlet (Dinh Hiep commune, Dau Tieng District), said that flowerbeds planted on both road sides created a green, clean and beautiful landscape. This hamlet has now more than 2km of rural roads; local people donated their lands and money for rural road development. Where a road is done, a lighting system, telecommunications network will follow. Hence the face of rural areas has also changed much more. “My family is happier as well as all people in this hamlet. Every family fixes their house, takes care of flower fence in front of the house to be more beautiful”, said Mr. Trung.
Income heightened
Besides the NRC process, Binh Duong has combined hi-tech agricultural development programs with agricultural product processing industry. Thereby, the province has also called on many investors in high-tech agricultural zones, applying scientific and technical advances. As a result, the province has 167 cooperatives, in which there are many new models of cooperatives associated with efficient value chains and business expansion, contributing to job creation, increasing income for people. This is the goal of the province in the process of urbanization as well as NRC.

According to Phu Giao District leaders, agriculture sector in the district continued to develop properly, turned towards goods production to meet market demands, improved its economic efficiency and income for farmers. The district has supported, encouraged development of high-tech agricultural production, sustainable production tied to environmental protection. The district is also implementing the project of agricultural development and NRC integrated with ecotourism development in order to continuously improve economic efficiency on people's productive land.
Pham Van Bong, Director of provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in order to build an advanced NRC associated with the sustainable agricultural production, the province's agricultural sector proceeded in the right direction. Binh Duong carried out NRC on the basis of sustainable and safe agriculture on a large scale, application of high technology - biotechnology towards organic agriculture, biosafe breeding. The infrastructure connects synchronously with the Southeast region and with the Mekong River Delta, South Central Coast and Central Highlands to sustainably exploit the potential and advantages of regions.
In the coming time, the authority will continue to support and encourage the development of agricultural production using high technology, sustainable agricultural production tied to environmental protection; focus on building and expanding production models based on value chain for key agricultural products in the area, creating a development of agricultural production in the direction of goods that meet standards of productivity, quality, food safety, and to improve people's income and living standards.
