New jobs projected to be created for 35,000 in 2024

On the afternoon of January 17, Binh Duong provincial Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs organized a conference to review labor, meritorious individuals, and social work in 2023, and to implement tasks for 2024. The conference was attended by leaders of departments, sectors, and localities.

In 2023, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs made efforts to achieve and essentially complete the set plans. The proportion of labor through training reached 83%; the poverty rate according to the multidimensional poverty standard of the province reached 1.28%, surpassing the annual target plan.

In terms of job creation, the province has successfully achieved 73.5% of its annual target by generating employment opportunities for 25,742 workers. However, by the end of 2023, there are still 5,072 households living in poverty, accounting for 1.28% of the total, and 1,600 households classified as near-poor, representing 0.4% of the population. These figures exceed the planned targets set forth.

The Department has provided loans totaling 43.1 billion VND to poor and near-poor households; constructed and repaired 107 solidarity houses with a budget of 8.38 billion VND (mobilized funds); disbursed monthly allowances to social protection beneficiaries amounting to over 227.1 billion VND; and distributed gifts to poor households and social protection beneficiaries worth over 40 billion VND.

The work of caring for those who have made contributions to the revolution is always given attention and implemented well, with proper and timely payment. Up to now, 99.89% of people with contributions in the province have a standard of living equal to or higher than that of the local residents; 100% of communes, wards, and towns maintain the title of "good performance in the work of caring for wounded soldiers, martyrs, and people with contributions to the nation.”

In 2024, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs strives to create 35,000 new jobs; the proportion of trained labor to reach 84%; the poverty rate, according to the multidimensional poverty standard of the province to reach 1.2%. The department will continue to enhance administrative reform and digital transformation efforts.
