A doubled joy
In the past, Giap Lac hamlet-based residents suffered difficulties of electricity shortage. They had to use accumulators to cater for power demand. But now, the national grid network has covered the locality since 2010, bringing joy for local inhabitants.
Over 30 years of living in power shortage, Giap Lac hamlet residents only grew perennial trees such as rubber and cashew, owing to electricity shortage for digging wells.
However, since the national grid network’s appearance, this land seems change completely. Local people have focused on developing household economy, purchasing household utensils, building houses and paying attention to their children’s study and many more.
Truong Van Tien enjoys a new TV set.
Living in Giap Lac hamlet for 36 years, Truong Van Tien, shared “Since enjoying the national grid network, we are very happy. The grid has changed local residents’ life. Every one plans to purchase utensils and maps out future projects”.
Tien’s first work was to build a new house worth of VND300mil and purchased household utensils such as electric fan, radio, TV set and many more. Meanwhile, Tran Minh Hai in Tan Vinh Hiep commune arrived at Giap Lac hamlet to open a chicken farm in early 2010. Hai, said “Without electricity for animal husbandry, I had to use generators, so my profit also decreased along. Since the national grid network has appeared at the locality, I’ve enjoyed decrease in expense and increase in profit”.
Truong Van Thuong expressed “Enjoying the electricity grid, we repair our house, plant more ornamental trees, purchase fridge and TV set. My biggest joy is to enjoy a drilled well. We no longer walked hundreds of meters to take water from streams”.
3 years ago, Nguyen Thi Xua, 80 had to take water from streams. She, said “Enjoying the electricity network, we are very happy. Our children give us a small TV set to relax”.
A new life coming
At present, Giap Lac hamlet has had 40 households, over half of them stay here provisionally. Since the grid appears, the remote hamlet has overwhelmed eateries and laborers from other localities.
Watching TV and listening radio to enrich his knowledge, Truong Van Tien thinks of his children’s future, so he buys a computer for his oldest daughter to encourage her to make effort in study. Meanwhile, his wife, Nguyen Thi Nu, increases production by planting more orchards and vegetables to enrich their meals.
Kim, the grandson of Xua, added “Enjoying the grid, we purchase incubators to raise about 200 mother chickens. Therefore, we have enjoyed a stable life”.
