Overcoming challenges
On the day of announcing the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee to establish An Dien ward, An Tay ward in Ben Cat town and establish Ben Cat city under Binh Duong province; receiving the first-class Labor Medal, we had the opportunity to talk to Nguyen Cong Thanh in Ben Cat city’s My Phuoc ward. Mr. Thanh is from Tien Giang, but has settled in Ben Cat city for nearly 20 years. In his story with us, Mr. Thanh said that what impressed him most about the development process of Ben Cat land was the rapid development of industry and the speed of local urbanization, especially in wards of My Phuoc, Tan Dinh, Thoi Hoa and Hoa Loi. “Despite many difficulties and challenges, the locality has had outstanding development in recent years. Hopefully, the city will have even stronger development steps in the coming time...", he shared.

Ben Cat will become an industrial and service city by 2030 and be an urban - service - industrial center by 2040...
After 10 years of construction and development, despite facing many difficulties and challenges, with the spirit of solidarity, unity and high determination, the entire Party, army and people of the city have strived to help Ben Cat quickly emerge with a dynamic urban appearance, in which industry has become a key economic sector, with trade and service activities gradually developed. Ben Cat has achieved many important achievements, which is comprehensive economic development with a focus on the process of industrialization associated with urban development. The city’s economy has continued growing rapidly and in the right direction. The city’s economic growth rate in 2023 was 12.1%. The city’s economic structure shifted in the right direction with industry (70.1%) - trade and services (29.7%) - agriculture (0.2%). The city’s total production value reached over VND 285 trillion, with 27 out of 34 targets and component targets achieving and exceeding the proposed resolution; 4 out of 34 targets, component targets reaching 69% - 90%. The city’s total State budget revenue was over VND 1.11 trillion, reaching 112% of the provincial plan and Resolution assigned by the local People's Council. The city’s basic construction investment, planning, State management on land, environment, construction and urban order made new changes. The city’s fields of culture, health care, and education continued going into depth, with social welfare guaranteed. The material and spiritual lives of the local people were improved clearly. The local political security, social safety and order situation was maintained.
At the ceremony to announce the National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution on the establishment of An Dien ward, An Tay ward in Ben Cat town and the establishment of Ben Cat city under Binh Duong province, the Party Committee, government and people of the city was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal for the local outstanding achievements from 2018 to 2022, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Towards a civilized and modern city
Speaking at the local ceremony to announce the National Assembly Standing Committee’s Resolution on the establishment of An Dien ward, An Tay ward in Ben Cat town and the establishment of Ben Cat city under Binh Duong province; receiving the first-class Labor Medal, Vice-Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong emphasized that among the proud overall achievements of Binh Duong province, there is a very important contribution from Ben Cat. During the local development process, the Party Committee and government of Ben Cat city has always taken "People and businesses as the center"; taken industrial development to lead and create motivation for urban and service development as well as supporting agricultural development. This is clearly shown by the "bright, green, clean, beautiful" urban appearance today and the very impressive development targets and results in recent years.
As of now, provincial People's Committee has approved the overall adjustment project of Ben Cat city's overall planning to 2040. On that basis, the city has accelerated the progress of implementing the local zoning plan for 8 wards and communes in a synchronous way. The local planning work is carried out methodically, aiming at building space for development and improving the quality of life of people from all strata. Under the local orientation to 2030, Ben Cat will become an industrial and service city. By 2040, Ben Cat will be an urban - service - industrial center, a traffic hub developing in two main directions: developing a trade - service corridor along Highway 13 in the north - south direction and developing commercial and service urban areas along the belt road 4 of Ho Chi Minh city, the east-west transport route.
Ben Cat becoming the 5th city of the province is not only a particularly important event for the Party Committee, government and people of Ben Cat city, but also an event of historical significance, marking a milestone in Binh Duong's new development on the way of development and integration, promoting industrialization and modernization.
