Television producer Vu Thanh Vinh will introduce his directorial debut Hai Muoi, which is about salt farming and family love.

The movie revolves around a salt farmer named Hai living in Thieng Lieng, a beautiful island in Thanh An commune of Can Gio district, the only district bordering the sea in HCM City.

Hai is a single father who devoted his life to raising his daughter.

When his daughter grows up and moves to the city to study, their different thoughts of life lead to a conflict between father and daughter.

Meritorious Artist Vinh said at the press conference to announce his movie last week that he spent several years preparing and writing the film script.

“Although this is a family movie, it will have fresh and touching details because it is life,” Vinh said.

“I hope audiences will love their parents more after watching the movie.”

Vinh, 48, graduated in Cinematography and Directing at the HCM City University of Cinematography and Theatre in 1999.

He has produced several TV shows such as Solo Cung Bolero (Singing Bolero), Cuoi Xuyen Viet (Let’s Laugh), and Guong Mat Dien Anh (Movie Star), which have become popular among Vietnamese audiences for nearly 10 years.

Vinh invited actor Quyen Linh, who has been absent from the widescreen for 20 years, to play the father.

The work also features Huynh Bao Ngoc as the daughter, and People’s Artists Hong Van and Viet Anh.

The 55-year-old Linh said he was attracted by the script and the character as a father of two daughters.

“I want to introduce my daughters to a father named Hai who I love so much, as well as my wonderful moments and joys of being a father,” Linh added.

Linh rose to fame in the 1990s, playing leading roles in movies and TV series such as Nguoi Ha Noi (The Hanoian), Nhung Neo Duong Phu Sa (The Saga of Alluvial), and Dong Tien Xuong Mau (Bloody Money).

Since the 2000s, he has become the host and producer of several charity TV shows, and a film producer.

Linh is currently a vice chairman of the Vietnam Cinema Association.

The movie Hai Muoi will be in theatres on August 30.

Meanwhile, Lam Giau Voi Ma (Betting with Ghost), a comedy by director Nguyen Nhat Trung, promises to bring a lot of laughs to audiences.

The film portrays Lanh, a gambler who is seeking ways to pay his huge debts. He then makes a deal with a ghost to help him earn money.

The production stars Tuan Tran, who is very famous for his role in director Tran Thanh’s Mai, the highest grossing Vietnamese film of all time.

The work features Diep Bao Ngoc as the ghost, and Hoai Linh as Lanh’s father.

The comedy Lam Giau Voi Ma will also be released nationwide on August 30./.
