Early March 14, provincial Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control held an online conference with 9 districts, towns and cities to assess the situation of Covid-19 pandemic over the past week and deploy tasks in the coming time. Nguyen Van Loi, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation chaired the conference. The event was also attended by Vo Van Minh, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments, agencies and sectors in the province.
Pandemic under control
In the context of the whole province implementing safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic, provincial Party Standing Committee has proposed departments, sectors and localities to strengthen vaccination against Covid-19 for people. Localities must speed up the implementation of vaccination against Covid-19. By March 20, they must complete the inoculation of second and third Covid-19 vaccine shots for children aged 12-17, people aged 18 and above, respectively.

Over the past 7 days (from March 7 to 13), the number of Covid-19 cases in the province increased by 83.7% compared to the previous week, but most of them were asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. They were mainly self-detected through rapid testing. In the trend of F0 cases on increase, the number of F0 cases being treated at treatment facilities also increased by 35.9% compared to the previous week. There were 11 cases transferred to the 3rd floor, 10 deaths and 32 cases on ventilators, down 20 % of total cases compared to the previous week. Among the 10 deaths, there were 4 unvaccinated people while the rest were vaccinated, but were elderly and had serious underlying diseases.
At the conference, members of provincial Steering Committees for Covid-19 Prevention and Control also said that the number of people infected with Covid-19 is increasing rapidly, but with mild symptoms. Pham Van Bay, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s People's Committee said: Facing the number of infected people on increase, the city has actively improved the quality of Covid-19 treatment on floors in combination with giving home care for F0 cases, especially infected students; ensure enough drugs, oxygen, anti-pandemic supplies and testing supplies at all levels.
In order to be proactive to manage and monitor patients’ health, early detect infected cases, strengthen treatment, reduce severe cases and deaths, due to Covid-19, Nguyen Thu Cuc, Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot city’s People's Committee said: In the context that the whole province is implementing safe, flexible adaptation and effective control of the Covid-19 pandemic to protect people at high risk of Covid-19 infection, the city has implemented strict management of high-risk groups in order to reduce mortality and serious complications”.
Speeding up vaccination, focusing on improving data entry
Last year, the whole province administered more than 73,600 doses of Covid-19 vaccine, including 3,830 second doses for children aged 12-17 and more than 69,800 third doses for those aged 18 and above. As of now, the province has administered more than 2.47 million of first doses, more than 1.92 million of second doses and more than 1.28 million of third doses…
Doctor Huynh Minh Chin, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Health said: The current Covid-19 vaccine is still effective in reducing the number of severe cases, deaths and hospitalization cases, even with the Omicron strain with BA.2 variant. In particular, booster shots are very important, helping reduce severe cases and deaths. Therefore, localities need to strengthen the completion of the inoculation of third Covid-19 vaccine shots.
Speaking at the conference, Mr.Loi emphasized: Immunization must be considered as a top priority, so localities must put the task of vaccinating people as the top task. Sectors and units need to organize a campaign to speed up vaccination against Covid-19 among people. By March 20, they must complete the inoculation of second and third Covid-19 vaccine shots for children aged 12-17 and people aged 18 and above while setting up a vaccination plan for children aged 5-11. Localities will strengthen the arrangement of mobile and concentrated vaccination sites; establish mobilize vaccination groups for high-risk groups under the motto of “going every alley, knocking door to door, check each person”…
Provincial Party Committee Secretary requested provincial Department of Information and Communications to coordinate with provincial Department of Health and Police Agency to set up a review team in the next 3 days to complete the data review, enter the full number of people who have been vaccinated and clean data on the Covid-19 vaccination portal system. In particular, sectors must urgently have coordination to input all remaining vaccination data into the national vaccination software while inputting all new injection data. Sectors and localities must overcome the status of updating vaccination data, form up a system of population data and vaccination data to serve the next vaccination rounds smoothly and effectively.
Provincial Department of Health has organized the care and treatment of people with Covid-19 in the high-risk group, monitored their health, handled and treated them right after being detected of Covid-19 infection under the guidelines on risk classification of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus; carried out isolation, monitored patients at home or at treatment facilities under the condition and severity of the pandemic, with the support and supervision of medical staff and the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
In terms of pandemic levels, the province now has 91 communes, wards and townships, including 14 communes, wards and townships of level 1, a decrease of 20 communes compared to the previous week. There are 18 communes, wards and townships of level 2, down 3 compared to last week; 29 communes, wards and townships of level 3 has, up 27 compared to last week. Ben Cat town and Bau Bang district have all communes, wards and townships of level 3.
