Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award fosters innovation among journalists

Over the past decade, the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award, organized annually by Binh Duong Province and the Provincial Journalists Association, has evolved into a prestigious platform and a gathering place for committed journalists both within and beyond the province. It serves as a significant source of inspiration, fostering motivation for journalists to continually innovate, dedicate themselves, and enhance their professional path.

Foster enthusiasm and commitment

Journalist Tam Trang of Binh Duong Newspaper, a familiar figure and multiple recipient of the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award, remarked: “The Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award is a prestigious accolade that comprehensively reflects the various facets of political, economic, cultural, social, defense, and security life in Binh Duong province. This award consistently serves as a source of motivation for us journalists to refine and invest thoughtfully in each piece of work.”

With over ten awards to her name, including multiple years of receiving two awards each in categories A, B, or C, journalist Tam Trang has demonstrated her professional prowess through her coverage of social criticism, commendable individuals, investigative reports, and exemplary models in society. Her long-term investigative projects serve as the most compelling testament to the dedication and perseverance inherent in journalism. “There are topics that require me to remain in the field for several months, undeterred by danger, as I tackle even the most complex subjects to reveal the truth. My commitment to this work is not solely about 'chasing awards'; it also allows me to hone my professional skills and cultivate the habits necessary for uncovering significant stories: I must develop an implementation plan, expand my perspective, and ensure that the work is both in-depth and impactful,” Tam Trang remarked.

The collective of writers, comprising contributors from Binh Duong Newspaper and various press agencies both within and beyond the province, was honored with the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award in 2024

One of the most impactful works was the investigative report “Exposing the Illegal Gas Filling Line in Binh Duong,” conducted in 2025. This report not only generated significant attention across media platforms and social networks but also garnered three prestigious awards simultaneously: the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award, the Southeast Journalism Award, and the National Journalism Award.

Each year of the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Awards represents a period of appreciation for the profession and the values of truth, goodness, and beauty that journalists strive to uphold. Within this context, the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Awards serves as a platform to "ignite" creativity, providing motivation for journalists to confidently advance along the path of supporting the sustainable development of Binh Duong in the new era.

The Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award serves not only as a platform to acknowledge individual accomplishments but also as a nurturing environment for the development of numerous journalists, particularly those in the early stages of their careers. One such journalist is Huynh Thanh from the News Department of Binh Duong Radio and Television Station. For him, each season presents an opportunity to challenge himself and acquire invaluable lessons.

“The award serves not only as a professional platform but also as a catalyst for enhancing the passion and accountability of journalists in the contemporary era. Each participation compels me to explore complex, human-centric issues, revealing new dimensions of social life. Consequently, my professional competencies and creative thinking have experienced substantial growth. Engaging in the award allows me to refine my team leadership abilities and leverage the strengths of each member to produce high-quality outcomes. The Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award functions as a comprehensive learning environment that fosters my development, sustains my professional enthusiasm, and inspires the creation of works that are not only communicative but also imbued with profound humanistic values,” affirmed Huynh Thanh.

Honoring the unspoken contributions

Many journalists and reporters regard the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award as an opportunity to validate the significance of their work, as well as a platform to honor their often-overlooked contributions. Particularly in the current landscape, where the press is undergoing significant transformation amid numerous challenges, the award serves as a powerful incentive for journalists to remain steadfast in their profession, enhance their skills, and pursue continuous innovation.

The Organizing Committee reports that in recent years, numerous award-winning works from central and local press agencies in Binh Duong have demonstrated high-quality content, diverse forms of expression, and in-depth exploration of topics, effectively and objectively reflecting various practical issues in social life. The Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award not only identifies exemplary cases and commendable models but also contributes to social critique, policy formulation, and the promotion of positive values within the community.

Support for journalists

In discussing the significance of the award, Mr. Le Huu Phuoc, Chairman of the Binh Duong Provincial Journalists Association, articulated that the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award represents a profoundly professional endeavor. It not only recognizes exceptional writers but also plays a crucial role in identifying and nurturing emerging journalists, instilling a sense of social responsibility and professional ethics within the field. Consequently, the award fosters a culture of emulation and innovation among the press corps, contributing to the collective advancement of Binh Duong province. The annual Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award serves as a platform for journalists, both within and beyond the province, to showcase their skills, commitment, and social responsibility. Beyond mere recognition, the award establishes a foundation for journalists in Binh Duong to achieve sustainable growth in professionalism and to enhance their social impact.

In the contemporary landscape of journalism, characterized by intense competition for information, rapidity, and technological advancements, sustaining a passion for the profession, along with a commitment to dedication and journalistic ethics, proves to be a formidable challenge. Consequently, the Nguyen Van Tiet Journalism Award serves not only as a platform to recognize outstanding works but also as a source of spiritual encouragement for journalists to consistently uphold "the profession in their hearts" and maintain a "sharp writing and pure heart."
