Unlike previous years, there is no big fluctuation for workforce at province-based enterprises after the Tet holiday 2012. This is because the local authorities and businesses have paid more attention to taking care of laborers’ lives.
Good social welfare policies
Province-based enterprises have taken many substantial measures to keep their laborers, especially after the Tet holiday, including providing lucky money, subsidizing transport costs…
Before and after the Tet holiday, trade union locals have joined hands with enterprises to subsidizing transport costs of over VND9bln for over 22,000 laborers returning home for Tet.
Laborers registering to seek jobs at provincial job transaction floor
Binh Duong Garment One-Member Co.Ltd. has organized cars to take 1,100 workers to homeland and then pick up them after Tet to ensure operations resumed on schedule.
Many other companies, including Di An Carriage Co., Yazaki Ends, Gomo Vietnam Co.Ltd., Dong Nam Co.Ltd., King Jade Co.Ltd., Interwood Co.Ltd.,…have also got involved in taking laborers to homeland and then picking up them or providing them with transport costs, which is seen as a move to encourage their workforce.
Before and during the Tet holiday, most enterprises with trade unions presented gifts to their laborers with a total expense of more than VND31bln. Among them, over 500 organized year-end parties with many significant activities for their laborers.
Shortage of unskilled laborers
In early days of the lunar New Year, many enterprises need more laborers at their business plans.
The number of enterprises registering to recruit laborers, especially unskilled ones at provincial Job Placement Center has increased sharply after Tet. The labor demand mainly focuses on fields like corrugated iron production, entertainment services, restaurant, garment, electricity line production…
To attract laborers, most enterprises, namely Showa Gloves Vietnam Co., Vision International Co.Ltd.,…have provided many incentive policies on monthly salaries, allowances.
Nguyen Thanh Phuong, head of the Job Placement Department under provincial Job Placement Center, said despite high recruitment demands, the number of unskilled laborers and highly skilled ones applying for jobs remains modest, resulting in labor shortage.
To solve this lack, the province and enterprises will boost cooperation on labor supply linkage with other localities while further opening job transaction sessions and effectively promoting the website of Binhduongworks.com in order to attract more laborers.
It is thought that enterprises initially need to have good social welfare policies for laborers to redress the current shortage of unskilled laborers. This is also one of the measures helping them have instability about workforce.
