No rabies incurred in wild animals in Binh Duong

In the morning of September 28, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held an online conference to review the national program to control and eliminate rabies in the 2017-2021, commenting on the draft National Program on prevention and control of rabies in 2022-2030 and the meeting of World Day of Rabies.

In 2017-2021, all the contents and solutions in the national program have basically been implemented in timely and effectively by central and local agencies, achieving many outstanding results such as no serious outbreaks of rabies in animals; the percentage of vaccinated dogs stood from 38.5% to 49.2%; 14 areas safe from rabies and the number of provinces at high risk decreased by 30%. Up to now, 650 injection sites are available nationwide.

In Binh Duong, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Department of Health to strictly implement regulations on rabies prevention and control; to take measures to manage and raise the rate of rabies vaccination for dogs and cats to reduce the number of people bitten by dogs and prevent deaths from rabies in the province. Propaganda has been carried out in many forms to contribute to improvement of the effectiveness of measures to prevent rabies in animals and the responsibility of pet owners to manage and take their dogs for rabies vaccination as well as public awareness of rabies prevention. Up to now, there has been no outbreak of rabies in dogs and cats in the province.

In order to achieve the common goal of controlling rabies in domestic cats and dogs and striving for zero deaths from rabies by 2030, many technical and management solutions have also been proposed. In which, media watching has been established to raise awareness, strengthen management, promote vaccination and to proactively periodically take samples for surveillance as the key to successful implementation of the program.
