Early August 10, Mr. Tran Van Nam, Chair of Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee and his deputies listened to Department of Education and Training reporting on preparation of the new school year of 2015-2016. Servicing the 2015-2016 school year, Binh Duong Provincial Department of Education and Training enrolled 100% of students at schooling age to Grade 1 of elementary schools, all those completing elementary schools to Grade 6 of secondary schools, and 9,497 students to Grade 10 of public schools. Comparing with previous school year, the 2015-2016 school year eyed an increase of 32,324 students majority at preschools and elementary schools, particularly in the 2 towns of Thuan An and Di An.
To accommodate the increased student population for the new school year, the department has promoted to construct and put into use 19 new schools; however, they fail to meet the demand. Thus, the schools currently are allocating students to half-day classes, increasing classroom students, and making use of functional classrooms to basically place them to classes. In the face of the pressure caused year on year student increase, districts and towns have proposed to the provincial authority for allocation to construction of new schools.
At the working session, Mr. Tran Van Nam highly appreciated the well preparation of Binh Duong Provincial Department of Education and Training for the new school year regarding facilities for the students and teachers. He demanded for reviewing of service quality to prevent low quality foods from being brought to schools. The measures that the department has implemented are temporary, requiring the department to coordinate with other departments to predict the increase of student quantity to plan for school and classroom development avoiding impassiveness for the next years. As for land fund, it is prioritized for social and political purposes including education sector. He reminded of the firm principles of not leaving any students out of schools.
