Morning July 7th, North Tan Uyen district held a get-together to celebrate World Population Day (July 11th) and preliminarily summarize population - family planning in the first 6 months of 2015.
At the get-together, representatives reviewed the significance of World Population Day. This year, World Population Day has the theme “Strengthening reproductive health and family planning services for vulnerable people in disasters", and messages: Do not practice sex selection before giving birth; stopping the pressure to bear a son; Your future depends on your today action not to do fetal sex selection; supporting specific population groups to cope with climate change.
In the first 6 months, the district Steering committee directed activities of propaganda, education in many forms corresponding to various subjects, thereby, creating people’s awareness of compliance with the Party's guidelines and the State’s law on population - family planning; cooperated with related agencies to enhance propaganda, encourage persons in reproductive ages to apply voluntarily modern contraceptive methods, accept family with 2 children.
As a result, in the first 6 months, the number of new people applying contraceptive methods in the district was 1,773; total newborn was 263, decreasing 2.46% compared with 2013; total number of pregnant women having prenatal screening was 72, and total number of children having newborn screening was 94.
Officials organized public consultations for 130 persons, gave direct counseling to over 1,000 persons; gave 2,320 condoms, 2,015 contraceptive pills to people through collaborators.
