Under the campaign of
“the Day for the Poor”, authorities and Fatherland Front Committees at all
levels of Binh Duong have mobilized people from all strata to contribute tens
of billions of dong to the local Fund for the Poor. The fund was also used to
upgrade, build unity houses for poor households; provide free medical check-ups
and medicine for the poor; offer help to poor households’ offspring in
learning; give unexpected support for the poor…over the past time.

Mobilization of the local Fund for the Poor diversified
Defining that economic development must go along with ensuring social welfare, Binh Duong has realized many support programs for poor households and near-poor ones towards the goal of increasing their living standards.
Provincial Mobilization Board for the Day for the Poor in collaboration with provincial Industrial Parks Management Board and relevant agencies has called for people from all strata to subscribe money to the local Fund for the Poor. Accordingly, Binh Duong Radio-Television Station has teamed up with Tison Paint Company to execute the charity programs of “Vong tay nhan ai” (Arms of compassion) and “Mai am tinh thuong” (House of compassion). The VSIP charity day is held annually by the VSIP Management Board with the goal of raising funds to support poor-but-excellent pupils and charity programs organized by Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and other mass organizations. Meanwhile, Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and other mass organizations have also mobilized members, pupils, students and workers to give savings for the local Fund for the Poor.
Mobilization Boards of “Fund for the Poor” at all levels have also diversified their mobilization activities, including setting up delegations to directly mobilize enterprises; organizing art performances to raise funds; mobilizing State employees to contribute one working day’s salary…
Thanks to mobilization work well implemented plus enthusiastic response of people from all strata, provincial Fund for the Poor and its affiliates last year collected more than VND30bln. In the first nine months of 2013, they also collected VND31bln.
Representative of Tison Paint Co.Ltd. said: “Our contributions have been acknowledged. We have felt very proud of this and will make efforts in production for better results to be able to join hands in taking care of the poor in the coming time”.
Social welfare well implemented
The whole province last year mobilized many support sources to implement the local programs on social welfare with more than VND286bln. In the first nine months of 2013, provincial Fund for the Poor and its affiliates built 38 unity houses with total expense of more than VND1.6bln; upgraded 11 houses with total expense of VND229mln; helped 4 cases develop production with VND34.2mln; provided medical check-ups for 279 people with total expense of more than VND340mln; offered financial support of VND46mln for 314 poor pupils…
On behalf of those who have received help from provincial Fund for the Poor, Nguyen Van Tho in Dau Tieng district’s Thanh Tuyen commune said that he have felt very happy when receiving a unity house from Thanh Tuyen communal Fund for the Poor. Building a house is seen as a dream for him and his children because of poverty. Currently, they enjoy a good accommodation and will try to stabilize their lives…
Tran Thi Son, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee said that the annual campaign “Day for the Poor” has always upheld its effectiveness. This has come from attention of authorities at all levels and close coordination between Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and sectors. The campaign has contributed to taking care of the poor, helping them overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives and actively contributing to implementing the national targets on reducing poverty and ensuring social welfare.
Also according to her, mobilization work faces difficulties in 2013, due to economic fluctuations. To uphold the spirit of “the good leaves protect the worn-out leaves”, Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have further mobilized enterprises, organizations and individuals in and out of the province to make contributions to the local Fund for the Poor.
